Hedo sprained wrist and Glass Jaw Nelson out for how long???

Post#1 » by BassMaster » Wed Mar 26, 2008 2:24 am

Hedo sprained his wrist against the Spurs and I guess no one is going to say just how long he is going to be out until tomorrow.
Well at least right now he did it at the right time where missing won't be as important as long as he is ready for the playoffs.
Now what is it with Nelson and teammates nailing him in the jaw. This is the second time he got taken out.
Is it because of his height that he keeps on getting nailed in the jaw?
And is it just me or does it seem that Nelson has a glass jaw, I mean each time one shot to the jaw takes him out. Wham he's gone.
Another player we won't know how long he is out, last time it took a while to get him back.

Did we play better or worse without him last time???

I'm not hating on Jameer, I'm sure/hope he is fine. I'm much more concerned about Hedo.

The team missed Hedo and his 21 points a game I think, Nelson that's another story, but hope he is fine and gets a good long rest.

Well, Jameer got hit by Dwight both times. Usually it happens during a scramble for the ball so anything can happen then.

Tony Battie got hit by Dwight and got taken out for the entire season. Does he have a glass shoulder, too?

I imagine anyone who gets hit by Dwight when he has worked up a full head of steam will feel it. Maybe you'd like to see what it feels like?

Hedo is supposed to have an MRI on Wednesday. The Sentinel report said that because of swelling in the wrist, not much could be determined from the X-rays they took. At least it happened during a span when the Magic don't have many games. If it's just a sprain, maybe he'll have time to recover.

It was interesting, though, for all those who have said the Magic can afford to trade Hedo to get their power forward....Bogans, Evans and Redick did not find it nearly as easy to get their shots without Turkoglu on the floor.

Dwight got Nelson twice, maybe Nelson should think about wearing a football helmet.
Never heard that Battie was hit by Dwight as well......
I have never said that Hedo should be traded I think that those who said that should sit back and take a deep breath and finally realize that Hedo is that cog that has been keeping this team going so to speak.

easiest ways to knock someone out: A punch to the jaw, temple/ear, or back of the skull at the base

So, the official NBA report is that both Nelson and Hedo are "day-to-day."

That is the best possible injury classification in the sense of players returning. For the Trainers and Doctors to officially tab both with these injury titles means neither is seriously injured!

I heard that Hedo may play against the Bucks, while I know we need the Big Turk and it showed at the same time I would rather have him totally healthy for the playoffs then still hurting.
So Hedo rest that wrist of yours and let your teammates carry the load for once.
Nelson can rest as well Carlos and Dooling can carry the load they did well last time while you rested.

The media reports Hedo is in tonight, and that Jameer is out.

Orlando Sentinel

"If it's not broken, if it's not fractured, I'm in there," Turkoglu said. "I sprained the ankle in Toronto [early in the season], and I played the next night. Even during the game you're going to get hurt, but you have to keep going. One of my goals is to finish 82 games. I've never finished it before, and hopefully, I can this season."

Hedo's goal of playing his first full season is worthy. The best way to honor it is to let him start, but when he comes out in the first, just keep him out. He's much too valuable to put at risk.

Since Jameer didn't have a concussion, it's not clear why he's out. Perhaps his jaw is still so sore that he can't stand wearing his mouth guard -- which is now required. We always get the "good Carlos" on his first start, so Jameer is expendable until he's 100%.

That Lewis, Howard, and Turkoglu have missed a total of one game, the Magic clearly have avoided the injury bug to their best three players.
