Boston/Houston trade rumor???

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Fri Mar 28, 2008 6:44 pm

Its probably totally bogus, but I read in the new Sporting News that Boston and Houston might make the following trade in the summer. I don't know how its possible though since we owe the Wolves 2 firsts.

Ray, Perk and 2 first rounders

for

Yao

Houston does it because they have soured on the oft injured Yao.*

As for the pick they could do it during the draft. We pick for Houston, make the trade and include our 2011 pick. Minn. gets our 2009 pick, but the other pick is their own.

But I think this is just bull.

*wishful thinking

When I read it I just laughed. I don't think that trade would ever go down.

Boston would make a ton of money off having Yao.

Wouldn't want Yao anyways, he's always injured and overrated. If the season was 41 games long, then I'd take Yao.

It takes away quality from our bench. And I really don't know why Houston would want to make this. Ray + T-Mac? What's the point?

It is bogus, but the fact that we owe the Wolves 1st rounders doesn't kill a deal including picks for us this off-season. It could happen on draft day after we have selected whoever the other team we are dealing with wants and they could get our 2010 1st rounder.

What kills the deal is that it makes no sense for Houston. Yao is a young, franchise center and a cash cow for their organization. They aren't dealing him for a 32 year old (albeit, a very good one) shooting guard, a role player and 2 late 1st rounders. They already have T-Mac at shooting guard, too.

Hey Houston, I know we currently have the best team in the league and I know we have a good chance to win a ring but I'm thinking in the offseason of trading two valuable pieces of this team. What do you think?
Ray and Perk for Yao. Let's get this started now so hopefully after we win a ring we can totally change things up and roll the dice next year!

This is just dumb.

Houston might be think about getting rid of Yao because of his injuries. I honestly don't know if I'd do it if I were Boston. Sure the extra Asian money would be nice, but Yao is a big gamble. He seems to get injured every year and only cares about playing for China.

Why, exactly, would Boston do this?
I wouldn't do this in a million years...Yao is always hurt and Perk is more of a banger down below than Yao is. No thanks.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

We'd have to sign someone for the shooting guard position to replace Ray. Perhaps Ron Artest?

The only logical Yao deal that can happen this summer is something like the following:
-Yao Ming for Emeka Okafor '08 first round pick, and future first round pick.
-the '08 pick could net Houston with a nice prospect going forward, and Okafor is also young himself.

Other than that, if Houston was ever going to deal Yao...they could get so much better than Walter Ray and Perk.

I think its a good offer. Who knows if Yao will ever be healthy for a whole season. We are the one's taking the gamble. Besides look at what Memphis got for Gasol.

HOU has over 1 billion people rooting for them because of Yao. And when healthy Ming is the best center in the league...

This trade is so bad for them it`s ridiculous!

Just lock this nonsense, please!

Let's go back to a 24-58 team.
