I don't know how you can look at Nash in '04-05 and think "Wow, he was really holding the team back by X".

This is exactly what I was trying to get at, I'm just not as concise as you.

He ran that team as well as could have been done (and I think the same argument could be made for that crippled 05-06 team as well). Both those teams did about as well as they could have considering the design flaws.

Steve Nash was the worst MVP of all-time.

And that's not superlative either.

There isn't another guy who has won MVP who wasn't even top 3 efficiency and win shares on his own team, let alone the league

Good lord what are you even talking about?

Nash never won the MVP while not being top 3 in win shares or PER on his team.

To say nothing of the fact that accurate win shares and PER aren't available all through NBA history.

Which doesn't even get into the fact that these are just a couple of box score metrics which don't factor in a large chunk of the impact a floor general has.

What you say is indeed not mere superlative, as that implies only that you deviate from reality based on exaggeration of magnitude not that you're sense of direction hasn't been calibrated correctly.
