Do Itunes music downloads only work for Ipods?

I received a Itunes gift card and I was wondering if i needed an Ipod to play the downloads other than on my computer.

Technically yes but the files can be converted to play on other players.

Here is one way to do it, you have to burn the tunes to a CD first and then you can convert them.

Burn the track(s) to a CD, then you can open the CD in iTunes and the Convert Selection to MP3 will do exactly what you want (right click on the song and click "Convert selection to MP3". Just be aware that you'll have TWO copies of that song in iTunes -- one in the original AAC format and one in MP3 format. You can delete the AAC version if you like.

There are other ways to do it, this is the first one that I can remember.

Download SUPER from here and I believe you can convert it using this software. If not, you still have a pretty sweet converting tool to make animated Gifs from video files and other conversions.

Speaking of Itunes, I sent my iPod in to get a new battery last week. It was the last day before my warranty ran out, so I thought I might as well do it, since my battery was only lasting 4-5 hours at most. Well, I pay 30 bucks for shipping and handling, send it all the way to california, and apple sends me an email saying that my iPod is fine, and they are sending back my original iPod without any changes. WTF! I just want a new battery. So I paid 30 bucks for Apple basically to tell me that my iPod was working within their specifications. What a ripoff.

It was the limited warranty that you get for free for a year. And I couldn't get a new one just because the battery life is getting shorter.

I think you can download the iTunes plus songs and play them anywhere.

I think the itunes-plus songs are like $1.30 as opposed to the .99 regular ones but they are higher quality and you can play them on anything.

Quality is a huge thing. Kids that are growing up now who get most of their music in mp3 format are missing out on a lot. 128 kbps sounds like crap when you compare it to vinyl, store bought cds, and even high quality mp3s.

Mags FTW, you're right about the quality, but you need decent speakers for the difference to be discernible. In the car, or on cheap computer speakers, there's no difference. On a nice stereo, there can be a big difference.

Pretty amusing that SACD died out as a format because consumers were more interested in going towards lower quality than higher quality.

actually, they are 99 cents, just like the regular ones - they dropped the price on them awhile ago. itunes has an option where if you have regular songs, you can upgrade to the itunes plus ones, but i dont remember if theres a charge for that or not (wouldnt be surprised if there was though)

I think there is a 30 cents per song upgrade cost.

I was thinking about getting the 80GB Ipod. Since I should be able to use other players, do any of you have any opinions on a good music player to get? I would also like to use it to store videos, but it will mostly be used for music. I would like at least 8GB of memory.
