Thoughts on New Orleans/ West

Post#1 » by rsceltic34 » Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:34 pm

Does anyone feel that this team has a ligit shot at coming out of the west..... i know CP3 is a great player but it seems to me if you stop west you stop the hornets. for example west scored 37 in the 1st game and they still only won because we had like 25 turnovers dont get me wrong they are a great team but i feel they are one or 2 players away from being a contender. i think the teams to beat in the west are still the spurs and the lakers in a 7 game series i think the warriors will knock off the #1 seed again this year if they play the hornets they matchup very well i think davis can and will outplay paul hes much bigger and paul is not a great defender at all

Paul is not a great defender? He is a terrific defender, IMO. But he does have problems against big, physical PG`s.

For me LA and SA are one step ahead of other teams in the west. I don`t expect NO to win the western conference but I do like their team and I like how they play.

I would love to meet them in the finals but like I said I expect LA or SA to come out on top in the west.

why is he so terrific because he gets 2 steals per game iverson led the league in steals too is he a terrific defender wade was 4th in the league last year and he cant cover perkins off the dribble rondo absolutely ripped him up last nite ........ they had to put pargo on rondo he was doing so bad and if i was doc i would have went right to allen in the box to force the double because paul couldnt handle him either hes just not that good one on one plain and simple

From the games I have seen I have to say he is a good defender. Steals don`t tell the whole story, he is very effective defending other PG`s. Like I said the only problem are big PG`s who can post him up but since there are like 3 of them in the league he can`t be to worried about that.

With the new rules no guard can stop penetration of quick PG`s one on one without help. Remember what TJ Ford did to Rondo?

Paul's a good defender I believe but any prototypical PG's size affects their ability to really make a defensive impact.

I don't think they can come out of the west, but I think they can put up a good fight.

its true about West. the way to win against them is to defend West and Peja. as a hornet fan, if the front court struggles, the team rarely wins. but again, we have 49 wins. but if you frustrate them, its not pretty.

i don't think the warriors can win 4 games against the hornets though.
because we can rebound the ball.

but i doubt we play them. i think we can hold on to the number 1 seed, they way the lakers are struggling, and if so, we'd probably play denver instead. denver is what every team wants to play in the first round. i doubt the mavs make the playoffs.

i say we win a round...anything after that is gravy for a team that didn't even make the playoffs last year. we aren't that great defensively anymore either. we can't rely on our defense to bail us out if our offense sucks, like the c's, pistons, rockets and spurs can.

i don't expect chris paul to play badly. he's the least experienced, but he hasn't been stopped this year. he'll get his numbers always. well...unless we play deron williams. deron has chris' number.

chris is a decent defender. ppl mistake his steals for meaning he's a bad defender because they think he gambles for steals like AI does. no, chris just has a way of stripping the ball away from you, right infront of a player!

he has really quick hands, and you will rarely see him gamble and lose a player because he steals the ball. he will have trouble with big point guards, but its up to his teammates to help him and they usually do.

Yeah, they have a really legit shot. I think it will either be them, Pheonix, or Utah coming out of the West.

I think it's either LA, Utah, or New Orleans.
