Will Atlanta trade a sf?
Childress and Smith fa's this summer, Marvin Williams eligible for an extension. I don't object to the Hawks always drafting what they considered to be the best player available even when they already had a sf, but at some point they have to make up their minds who they want, and this summer is that point. They need to stop playing guys out of position and they can't give all 3 of those guys the money they deserve; they would just field another team with no center and would continue to be a talented team that can't get it together.
If there was a decent center available at #7 I would offer the pick and either CV or Yi for Marvin Williams. If that wasn't enough I'd throw in a 2nd-rounder or protected first or something like that. The Hawks may not be smart enough to realize they can't be consistently successful with sf's playing pf and pf's playing center, but it's worth a try. Marvin Williams would be a good sf for the Bucks.
The Bucks could also try to steal Childress with the MLE, but is he the kind of difference-maker Marvin could be, the kind of player the Bucks really need?

I would be thrilled with that but I think the Hawks are probably still a little afraid to deal Marvin for a guy with even more holes in his game. I don't see why they'd let Childress walk when he's as good or better as a complementary player than Marvin...probably makes more sense to re-sign Chill and then package Marvin for something of value.
Talent-wise Marvin for the 7th by itself makes us better next year, but given the Bucks current financial situation I'd rather keep the pick and get a guy who will be on a rookie deal for four years. Unfortunately the Hawks also don't have their first rounder this year because of the JJ deal, so you couldn't do a swap of picks as part of a bigger deal.

The Hawks get another scorer in the backcourt in Mo, who could come off the bench and play major minutes, and possible play in a small lineup alongside Bibby and Joe Johnson with Josh Smith and Childress. They get CV off the bench as well, who makes up for the loss of Marvin. They get a backup in Gadz, who might play a bit there. Mo is a long term solution is Bibby doesn't work out in the next year.
Bucks admit Mo Williams didn't work out, and package him along with Gadzuric's bad contract. Sure we don't get much back for CV, but we get Marvin, who join a core of Redd, Yi and Bogut. We keep our draft pick and draft a PG. Claxton has one less bad year on his contract than Gadz, and I'm not a Zaza fan, but I figure people on the board are here, so I threw him in to make the salaries work.

Now THAT'S a serious question.
Hawks are in the same division as the Bucks.
Teams in the same division rarely exchange young players ( and draft picks).
Now maybe the Bucks and Hawks are so dysfunctional that they might ignore that fact but even they understand the concept of shame.
You trade a guy and he torches you 6-8 times a year, it can become a reminder of how dumb your front office is.

1. No they're not in the same division.
2. Even if they were, they'd never play each other 6-8 times a year unless they played each other in the playoffs (which would be a clear improvement anyway).
3. Division doesn't matter at all anyway. Seeding is done by the entire conference. The 4 games you play the division opponent wouldn't make much of a difference.
4. And who cares. Make your team better. Don't let the fear of maybe facing them in the playoffs prevent that. To be the best, you have to beat everyone else anyway.

Maybe I am way off on this one, but Wisconsin (including Milwaukee) is such a Green Bay Packers state that the only divisional rivals that really get the blood boiling are NBA teams from cities that people already associate with Packer divisional rivals - Chicago and Detroit. I'd care a lot more if we got burned by the Bulls or Pistons than the Pacers or Cavs. Bah, maybe it's just been too long since the Bucks were good for me to get angry at the Pacers and Cavs.

I was reading a couple of days ago a thread on the <hawks board where they talked about Marvin Williams' defensive weaknesses and his inability to pull down a number of rebounds. I think they were underrating the guy like a lot of fans do, bu that's the opinion the fans have on him.
