Carmelo is shooting 52% in March, but only averaging 24 ppg in March. For the season he shoots 48%, but averaging 26 ppg for the season. Talk about running away from the hot hand.

Now this is the part where you all lie and say he's averaging less because he's passing more, instead of he's averaging less because a idiot constantly freeze him out.

Just saying, but don't forget guys... when we're winning, none of this matters. Especially because A.I. is putting up 7 apg this month so it means he's passing the ball and not getting assist just because he holds the ball for 18+ seconds (reminds you of Boykins, eh?).

Corona, don't lock this please and its no need to ban. I just wanna here the reasoning for Carmelo shooting 52% this month and getting less shots because of it. I think its because A.I wants to win only on his terms (shooting all the time), but of course I`m a Carmelo homer and know nothing.

Can't wait to play SA again in the playoffs so this can become more evident.

Here's a fun stat btw

06-07 playoffs
Carmelo 26.8 ppg 48% 98 shots
Iverson 22.8 ppg 37% 114 shots

Why is the guy not shooting well shooting more than the hot player? Hmm... guess its always been that way and I`m not just picking on Iverson, but what do I know? I`m just a Melo homer.

Edit: No need to lock this because I`m not praising Iverson. If I was saying this about Anthony Carter it wouldn't be locked.

then do us all a favor and keep it exclusively to this thread instead of ruining every single other thread with your hate/homerism.

u ever think he takes more shots cuz its easier for him? Melo has the best defender on the other team on him the entire game...plus AI is arguably the fastest player in the league, so its easier for him to get good looks...he also gets steals and is out on the break first, so those shots add up also

This thread is so ridiculously stupid that I can't even comprehend it to be honest. It just gets dumber and dumber as it goes on. The Nuggets are winning right now and that's all that really matters. And Whoever said AI gets easy looks is out of their minds. You try running 100 mph and then spotting up for a fade away jumper all in one motion, see if you can even get it up without falling on your ass. People that have no idea what their talking about make me laugh.

i know my carmelo...

the reason his points have gone down in march is because he has been less selfish with the ball. when he sees the double team, he passes out with no reluctance. no more forced shots. no more stupid turnovers.

in march his turnovers per game have been cut by half.

his assists per game have gone up.

his offensive efficiency has grown through the roof.

march:

4.0 apg (as opposed to 2.5 and 2.7 apg in december and january)
2.4 TO per game (omg...look at his assist to turnover ratio)

last 5 games:

26.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 5.0 apg, 2.2 spg, 56.0% FG (he could be a legitimate 30+ ppg, 9 reb, 6 apg player)

not to mention smith has clearly defined himself as the nuggets' third option in march and has gotten more shots because of it.

you try dealing with a constant double team in the post while being phased out of the offense in a guard-oriented system.

AI has it easier than melo offensively.

it's not our fault that AI chooses not to play off of melo...

that's where our offense is at its best.

what's our record whenever iverson is the leading scorer?

I don't remember it...but the record is pretty bad.

So Carmelo unselfishness is the reason he took 4 shots in the 2nd half of the GSW game, 6 shots in the second half of the Mavs game, and 5 shots in the final 3 quarters of the Nets game? Lmfao.

All of your responses to me are way out in left field man. It's annoying. You put words in my mouth or a comback I never said and I hate that ****. Please stop, thanks. All I said is that AI doesn't get as easy of shots as people think and I get this stupid **** response.

That is a pretty good post.

He has started to look for his team more. I like how he has been passing before the double team even gets to him, (the thread by hoodie, Kmarts dunk, is a great example of this) which is creating some easy shots for other players. He may not be getting the same amount of field goal attempts, but he is earning his points from the attempts he does get with some great efficiency. He did stop rebounding for a few games, but he has started to go after rebounds again. I remember in a game, when he was laughing at Camby for stealing a board away from him. I thought it was kind of funny. The team does tend to forget about him in stretches of the game, but I also think a lot of this is due to the way that GK uses his minutes in the second half.

I agree with Melo's minutes in the 2nd half. Also, when you're hot or even not and are a great player, you will still get alot of attention, sorta like a decoy. That helps as well. Just because Melo or AI aren't jacking up 50 shots a piece, they are still getting alot of attention to help the team overall. That why guys like LK, JR, K-mart, Najera and even glimpses of Carter are able to shine fairly easy.
