Then add 5% of all net income over $10,000.00 per month. The Dennis Scott case had to do with the argument that his child did not need $350,000.00 per year to live. The argument at trial was that his child made more than the average lower level NBA player. Unfortunately the argument fell on deaf ears and he paid a butt load of child support. I have clients that pay $10,000.00 to 20,000,00 in cumulative child support per month. My biggest cases were Cecil Fielder and Ed McMahon's wife. There can be some big awards for Child Support and Alimony. Dwight is actually lucky he wasnt married and established a "standard of living" which would dictate Alimony.

Funny thing is that these children make the same amount of money per year as their parents lawyers and they havent even gotten out of diapers yet. My Mom should have humped a superstar. Damn!!!

Regarding the upper comments, thank you for the informed discussion.

As for the latter, well, then "you" wouldn't be you.

Of course you could have just worked on your jumper from 12-20, but I gotta think law school is a safer bet!

i think the only people who care are the people who are bothered by the fact that dwight tried to keep a squeeky clean image going.

I think this thread should just die. its his personal life.

im not saying what he did is okay but lets just focus on him getting back and winning us a trophy.

Many posters here should learn to quote or name names, all this "people" "you guys" etc makes you look dumb and creates confusion on a very busy message board. As for me, I don't care that much, I just think the girl was smarter and screwed him, though it looks the other way at first glance.

He's a superstar now and he'll constantly stay under the spotlight whether he likes it or not. I'm sure he'll take some helpful lessons from this anyway. (#1: condoms are your friends)

Considering this is what Royce Reeds actually petition says:
"Petitioner [Reed] anticipates that an upward adjustment . . . will be required pursuant to a number of reasons. . . . The petitioner also is entitled to good-fortune support for the child," according to the suit.

I don't think it's going to be a few hundred grand a year sounds like she thinks she deserves a lot more considering he isn't going to marry her.
The only reason I posted this is the repeated story in sports about Sports figures getting in trouble because they forgot to think that the women they are with maybe lying when they tell them their own the pill. Just wear a condom guys then you wouldn't be in the news.
None of these guys want to be in the news, but the women they spent their little bit of fun keep on making sure the public hear about it just so they make sure said Sports figure pays out what they are demanding.
We all see this time and time again and even good Christians make mistakes so Howard you are going to pay millions for this one mistake.
Does anyone realize that Reed is 5-7 years older then Dwight just a little bit of trival.

The basic idea of child support payments is a good one - it's hard for a single mom to raise a kid, and the dad should have to pay if he isn't going to contribute to raising the kid. However, it's totally ridiculous that a woman should receive an upper-class income and be set for life just for having a baby. There should be a $50,000/year limit on child support payments.

yeah thats what I never quite understood. Its not just the man's fault that they had a child. There should be some restriction on the amount of child support that one is eligible to receive. If only to avoid situations like this.

Well something that makes sense and he could pay for a Nanny to take care of his son while he is on the road. Certainly would be a whole lot cheaper then what Royce wants which is a little for the baby and a lot for her.
