Vince Carter shoots .551% for 6 points a game inside. Ellis shoots .687% for 8.8 points. Thats not even comparable.

For comparison:

T. Parker: .633 for 7.2

Bron: .704 for 11.9

Melo: .637 for 9.5

In other words, Bron, Monta, rule this category, and Vince Carter has been forgotten about, precisely because he's no longer deserving mention here.

i don't think i've ever seen tony p miss a layup. he's a master at getting the right spin and the right angle off the glass. he's up near the top of this discussion.

Is there any way to get season splits for that stat? I'd like to see Carter's numbers pre-allstar break as compared to post-allstar break.

The main reason it's down IMO is because of his ankle problems earlier in the season. I've no doubt it's been considerably higher as of the last couple of months.

I have no idea how to get splits for it, actually. But I can tell you, last season he went .580% for 7.7 points. Its better, but its not in the elite range.

Agreed. You can't choose Ellis over Lebron James. If Ellis has the height and strength of Lebron, he'd be the better finisher. The only problem is that he doesn't.

I'd still take Shaq.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Kobe Bryant is the best finisher around the rim.

I would actually take Tony Parker to finish a lay up than Ellis. Like someone else said this is basically a down year for him. I've seen him do his little spin move and being surrounded by 3 big guys and STILL finishing.

I agree. I hate Kobe, but the guy is a great finisher around the rim. He shoots .626 there this season, which is definitely not something to look down at. Is he as good as Ellis or Wade? He's in the ballpark, anyway.

LeBron is obviously the best finisher in pure terms. People forget with lebron its not just that he's big and quick but he's actually ambidextorous meaning he can lay it in as well if not better with his left as with his right.

cmon, it's Lebron. He's scores more there and at a higher percentage with 2 guys on him.

Some other guys that quickly come to mind for me are:
Tony Parker
LeBron
Leon Powe

I think Leon Powe is underrated. I have yet to see him miss a shot near the rim. It's also not like all of them are just gimme layups.
My Starting 5:

PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Patrick Ewing
