3K Posts: Do you think what Pierce says is disrespectful....

Post#1 » by phoolishly_insane » Mon Mar 31, 2008 6:21 am

.....about Heat being a D-leaguers?

Saw a couple of thread from other forums saying that Pierce has no right to say that.

I don't think he was disrespecting them but it is the Truth!

Discuss?

P.S.

Funny thing is, the Celtics looked like a bunch of d-leaguers last season. And IMO, PP has no right saying things like that, without KG and Allen where would he be?

Since the Heat fans call their team a D-League team, and since the team plays 5+ D-leaguers, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Have we become so P.C. in this country that it's a crime to state the obvious?

I'd have to see the context of what he said, but if he said it in a descriptive way instead of a demeaning way I don't see what the big deal is (and even if it was a bit demeaning it's not a big deal). Isn't it pretty close to the truth? I mean how many 10 day contract players were on that team? Doesn't that mean many of them are D-Leaguers?

Last season, we didn't sign or have any D-leaguers.... they were just crap that turned into KG and Allen. 8)

As for the Heat... they have about 3 D-leaguers in the starting line-up and 4 players from the bench that played the game.

no, the funny thing is he's right. the c's roster from last year would blow out this miami team. try trading miami's roster for sugar ray and kg. i love the bitterness.

Ricky and Mark are on that team. I think Pierce didn't mean to insult the Heat' D-Leaguers, but his old teammates.

What he said was true, but we shouldn't forget where we come from. Last year we were tanking. Doesn't matter if the Heat are tanking more or way more. We did it, too. Pierce should be grateful to be in the position he is now and a little bit more respectful. Even though it meant to be giving some lame ordinary press conference.

wow, imagine an athlete actually trash talking another team. No wonder there are no good rivalries when people can get their panties in such a twist over a comment like that.

LMAO

they said it during the game: 9 players dressed, ricky 7 years experience, Blount: _ years experience, the rest combined: 4 years. They were a bunch of d leaguers on the court. That doesn't have to be a diss to ricky davis or mark blount, the fact is there were more dleaguers than veterans that played last night. stop crying.

Looking at the records in the east, still in the playoffs. Again for those slow ones out there the C's were that bad last year because the team couldn't win a game without Pierce (and Tony Allen). This year both are back and healthy, and Al Jefferson is kind of good if you haven't noticed.

If you replaced all of the D-League call-ups currently on the Heat's roster and replaced them with all stars, you would be able to call them a team full of all stars and no one would accuse you of overrating em.

Last year everyone accused Pierce for tanking. I guess he is free to whatever he says.

I take back my comment.. I thought Pierce said "bunch" of D-Leaguers and I concluded he tried to throw in Davis and Blount into that statement. But that wasn't the case.

Nothing disrespectful from Pierce, just the truth.

As a former Twolves fan I know a thing or two about tanking.
But what the Heat are doing, it's just... man.
I mean:
1. Faking injuries so their star players sit games. Check.
2. Having 7 players from D-League in their game rotation. Check.
3. Having their coach openly scouting college players instead of ummm... coaching. Check.
4. Having Blount as their starting center. Check.
5. Having Ricky as their main scorer. Check.

I mean what is there left to disgrace? All-time franchise low in points? Done. The fewest baskets in the NBA
From Ray-Ray to KG to 2P
We're in The Finals, bay-bee!

I think what the Miami Heat put out their on the floor and call it an NBA team is disrespectful. I think Pat Riley going on scouting trips while his team gets smoked night in and night out is disrespectful. Riley is the leader of this team and the coach. He just doesn't want to take responsibilty for this team sucking. When is the last time a coach took off game to go scout? That is what scouts are for. Oh yeah, I'm sure Riley is such a great judge of talent. Give me a break. The guy is a primadonna and overrated.

I don't think PP was taking a dig at Ricky. That really is a AAA/D-League team out there. The C's can fall asleep and beat those guys - and that's pretty much what they did.

The guy who wrote the "I am worried about Miami" thread should get an automatic ban for lack of BB knowledge. :P
