GM Smith has repeatedly stated that Battie was entirely his decision. And now ...
"I want to see him play a regular-season game," Smith said. "He has to play."

(from the same O-Sen as above)

Smith said the Magic could see forward Tony Battie for the playoffs, providing he can play a game or two in the regular season. Battie, recovering from surgery in October on his left rotator cuff, has been working out on his own, but has yet to have contact.

Seriously, Gortat needs to get some burn in the upcoming games of the regular season.

There have been a couple big men that haven't been able to play a game or two after taking on Dwight and the Magic. I want to say Bogut and Curry, but I might be wrong (sorry to those guys if I am).

I was going to post the exact same thing. I don't think he has as of yet. Stan's practices must be brutal. Hopefully we can coast a bit and get healthy for the playoffs, we're running out of pf's.

Yes i am a true fan...I am tired of having my team hurt by Cook's ridiculous, early in shot clock, 2 feet behind the arc, hand in the face, three pointers that rarely go in.

I mean one game(boston game) it worked, but ever since he has been pretty bad.

There was more than Boston game. There was Bulls, Celtics, Kings, Nets. I'm sure there was more too those are the only ones that come to mind.

But bottom line

Cook >> Garrity

Cook's shooting will be an important weapon in the playoffs, playoffs are such a different game, you need all hands on deck, any player can change the momentum of a game and a series with a few small plays.

We need everyone, including Cook. Hopefully he is back soon.

he's shooting 39% from 3-point land since joining the Magic, really good for a big man don't you think? That's only 1% less than Hedo and Rashard.

And who would you rather play? More Foyle? More Garrity? Cause that's really the only two options for the type of offense the Magic run.

I think there have been a couple times. I remember when Dwight broke Pietrus's nose last season and Pietrus had to wear that mask.

I definitely remember the mask, but not that Dwight did that. Selective memory I suppose. Good to know that its not just a practice thing then. What can we do, the guy is a beast.

Cook gets hurt and suddenly Otis changes his stance on Battie. Looks like now he is willing to try him out now.

BS latest blog:

Wearing a cast to protect his broken right hand, Magic forward Brian Cook said Tuesday that he could miss some or all of the club's opening round of the playoffs this month.

"Yeah, I have to say," Cook said. "I'm just going to try to work hard and try to get back. This is a big blow for me."

Cook sustained a fracture behind the knuckle of his middle finger on his right hand after center Dwight Howard tried to slap a ball out of his hand in Monday's practice.

General Manager Otis Smith said Monday that he didn't expect Cook to be out longer than two weeks, but Cook said doctors told him he wouldn't be getting his cast off for three weeks. The Magic could start the postseason Sunday, April 20.

"The doctor is telling me three weeks. And for me, this my right hand, my shooting hand. So I'm going to have to be really careful. This is my money-maker. I'm going to be reallly careful. How I rehab it, how I get back in it,t he swing of things," Cook said.

"I'm a corporation. That's my asset --- so take care of it."

^^ nice. He doesnt say anything like, the team needs me in the playoffs, or I want to help the team, or anything of the sort. The only thing he mentions is his "money-maker" and taking his time so he can "take care of his asset." Wheres the team mentality?

He knows that he is useless if he can't hit a shot, therefore rushing back when not 100% would be utterly pointless.

It would be like if Steve Nash couldn't dribble or run, but he rushed back because his team needs him.

Cook you were already in the doghouse because you were not playing all that well, do you think that said comments are going to endear you to your teammates. Now it's not just the coach who is mad with you, it's the fans and teammates. What a jerk you are.

How do I get the gig where I speak in behalf of his teammates and the fans?

BTW - I wish on-line newspapers would use green font for tongue-in-check statements.
