OT: Would Hinrich be our Ideal PG?

The deadline trade with Cleveland has given the Chicago Bulls a crowded backcourt that makes changes this offseason virtually inevitable, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

Regardless of the rotation that interim coach Jim Boylan comes up with someone is going to be unhappy. There simply is not enough minutes for all the players the Bulls have.

With Larry Hughes on big money for the next two seasons and Ben Gordon in restricted free agent status, one player who may be moved to help free space is Kirk Hinrich, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is reporting

not sure if we really want to do that unless we are that unhappy with J. Farmar (and i don't think we are that unhappy)

plus, what are we going to give up for Hinrich?

I would love to have Kirk. Tenacious defender who can guard PG's and SG's (sufficient quickness and size). Intelligent floor leader with great poise handling the ball. Oh, and he's not too shabby a shooter.

There are certainly better PG's out there (not necessarily available) but Kirk is certainly ideal for the triangle.

Question is, is our "poor man's" Kirk (aka Jordan) going to be as good or better than Kirk in a few years? I have no idea.

Right now I think we have enough studs to win a championship without Hinrich. Plus, I think Farmar is going to be a great point guard and I don't want to interrupt his progress.

I just want to know what your guys opinion, cause like hinrich I think thabo will fit the tri offense very well he is a good defender, who can shoot and can play point forwad, imagine ariza but with some offense,better ball handler, and higher bball IQ

I like Hinrich

But you said you'd be willing to trade odom and famar for thabo and hinrich if it doesn't work out in with a healthy Lakers line-up. Why? In a trade like that I think the Lakers lose the better players. That's all I'm saying, I could think about a lot more better players we could get by just trading Odom straight up.

that is just my opinion I could be wrong or I could be right, odom is 8098098 times better than thabo. but I dont think its about who is the better player its about who fits our system better, I think hinrich and thabo can solve our perimeter D problem

I tend to agree with Chefy on this one.

All things being equal (i.e. salary considerations, etc, notwithstanding) I take Kirk and Thabo for Odom and Farmar.

I love Odom, I love Farmar, but we are talking about building a TEAM.

If I understand your reasoning Rox (admittedly I am over simplifying here, perhaps at the risk of misconstrueing your point) I would ask you why San Antonio has never looked to trade Bruce Bowen for a "better player?"

It is not about getting "better players" per se. It is about building a great TEAM. We have the BEST player in the game, and an All-Star front court (just about).

We dont need "better players", but we could always use a better TEAM.

Please disregard if this makes no sense. But I think there is a distinction here.

You're exactly right it's about players fitting the system. But these players? Giving up Lamar who just recently gave us 20+ rebounds for two straight games for a guy who's career average is 5.1 points per game. I think we could get a better player for Lamar, someone like a Ron Artest who fits this team, in my eyes, perfectly.
