I've never thought Yi had Conley's potential and so I would be willing to make a deal for Conley that involved Yi. It wouldn't be my preference but if that was the only way to get Conley it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
But I realize I like Mike Conley a lot more than most on this forum.
If you look up some of my pre-draft posts on the jsonline forum last summer you will find that you have company. I've always been enamored of Conley, he's a true 6' version of what Ford was supposed to be, but without the moodiness and injury problems.
He benched 185 lbs. 13 times in pre-draft workouts, and only a few prospects (most of whom were much heavier) outperformed him in that area. He is skinny but very strong, kind of like KG and even like Jordan in his younger days. He scored 5th best among prospects in a series of athletic drills
and he fell on the shuttle run That would have put any other prospect out of the top 20.
But he's more than just an athlete, he plays the position impeccably. Furthermore, he has a ton of experience playing with a dominant big man, which is something the Bucks desperately need. Part of the problem with Mo and Redd is that they've never known anything but guard-oriented offenses in college or the pros because they haven't had the personnel to play any differently - until now. They're having trouble adjusting.
