Ilyasova update
Kid had a huge game today in the first game of the Euroleague playoffs. His team -- FC Barcelona -- lost to perennial powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv 81-75, but Ersan had 21 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks and no turnovers.

For the Bucks he is ready right now. Ersan is much better then Mason/Bobby. Is Ersan playing the 4 out there or the 3?

LOL, NO. Ersan is not better than Mason/Bobby. I hate to break it to you...LOL
Do you honestly think that? What do you think Mason's stats would be if he played in that same game? Lower than 21/9?
Ersan is not better than Desmond Mason, Bobby Simmons, or any other starting SF in this league. Unless you mean by contract value, then you may have a case.

Granted its not saying much but I also think Ersan is better than Bobby or Dez.
I'd rather have Ersan in there than either of those guys.Someone should make a poll on that.

Those are Ersan's decidedly mediocre Spanish league and Euroleague stats...6.5 ppg and 5 rpg in 19 mpg in EL, 5 ppg and 3 rpg in 13 mpg in Spain. Chuck knows more about it than I do, but he's still got a ways to go.
I suppose he could be better than Bobby considering Bobby's been junk all year, but Desmond's had a pretty solid season IMO.

Whilst I'm not suggesting that Ersan is better than Des or Bobby, don't be so quick to look down on Euroleague play and assume it is a walk in the park compared to the NBA.
How would a slasher like Des go without a no charge zone?
How would Bobby contend trying to defend some of the 3s? Would he be able to handle the physical play inside and be an undersized 4?
I'm not a big fan of Ersan at all, but 21/9 against Macabi is a big game. This is play in the Euroleague quarter finals, the final four of European basketball- whilst I don't doubt Bobby or Des could put up 21/9 in that game, that would still be a huge game for them and not just a walk in the park.

If we haven't gone with CV at the 3 too often I really can't see why we would go with Ersan there.

Ersan PER at SF last year 19.5.
Mason PER at SF this year 14
Bobby PER at this year 12

The other side to that is:
a) Ersan only played 3% of available minutes at SF, vs. 18% at PF
b) Ersan's PF PER was 12.2
c) Ersan's opponent PER at SF was a horrific 29.2, meaning he was almost -10 in differential terms.
d) Desmond's own/opponent PER this year at SF is 14.7/16.6

Thank you. Gotta watch out for the people who post one incomplete stat and try to prove a point.

Things to consider about the euroleague and Ersan's stats.
They only play 40 minutes opposed to 48 minutes per game in Europe
You aren't going to see players put up 25+ points a game all that much. For example, Juan Carlos Navarro, now of the Grizzlies, but on the team Ersan is on now (AXA Barcelona) averaged 17 ppg. This LEAD the ACB Spanish League last season.
Ersan has improved greatly overall the past 2 months or so, especially since the new coach has taken over. He's had a lot of good plays spread out across the season, and these are not just 'glimpses' every once in awhile.

A good point. There is a very solid young Australian guy named Dan Kickert playing for a team in Italy (who I think should be on an NBA roster as a deep bench guy, I'm sure he's a lot better than a lot of the 10-15 guys on rosters in the league) a few folks in Australia were a little dissapointed when looking at his stats on their own as he put up around 10 ppg/5 rpg (he is a 6'10" PF) but when I looked into his team's stats the top scorer on the team was only averaging 14 ppg and they had 7 guys in a bit of a log jam averaging between 14 ppg and 8 ppg. The team performed fairly well too.
Numbers in Europe are very different to numbers elsewhere.

Just another little piece of info
Ersan's 21 points this past game is one of the season high's for a player for points in a game for Barcelona this year.
Jaka Lakovic, their leading scorer at only 12.8 ppg in euroleague, scored 22 and 21 points in a pair of games this year. Mario Kasun scored 22 one game and Roger Grimau scored 21 in another game.
Those 4 times, along with Ersan's performance are the ONLY times this season a player has scored 20+ points in a euroleague game this season for Barca
