Deron. A truly elite PG who has good size, is a great passer, and a very good scorer (for a PG) is simply rarer and more valuable than a combo forward who is an excellent scorer but only OK at everything else.

I love Melo, but this goes to Dwill.

I wouldn't say DWill is better "by far" either.

Melo has loads of talent and is probably the better player, but Deron is the smarter, makes better decisions and the more efficient player. I think it has alot to do with the coaching difference to be honest.

I don't even think it's a fair comparasion. A PG to a SF.

Deron, but i agree with big123, PG vs SF is a little unfair, they both play a complete different style of basketball on the court so its a little hard to compare them in a way

but ill say williams because if i had to start a franchise with one of the two, id would take Deron

Production wise... lawl in the points department by Carmelo.. Deron only makes 5 points less than Carmelo, which is kinda considerable, considering the Jazz are in a slow pace.

Carmelo averages 7.3 RPG and 3.5 APG, and Williams averages 3.0 RPG and 10.5 APG.

Deron can also pride in being one of the best guard defenders in the league, and Carmelo not so much in defense period.

Deron averages 1.1 SPG and 0.3 BPG and Carmelo averages 1.2 SPG and 0.5 BPG.

Shocking how glaringly similar their blocking numbers are.

I think that Deron Williams just hands down dominates Carmelo, in the sense that if you can on the net contribution. The Jazz are much better team thanks to him, much more than Carmelo.

Deron at best will be Magic Johnson, while Carmelo at best will be Charles Barkley.

Melo's not a Barkley; never could be, never will be...
Deron's not a Magic Johnson, and never will be...

Deron's just taken his game to a high level - he's probably a more efficient scorer now than Carmelo, and can run the pick and roll with Boozer all day

To run a team it would be better to have Deron Williams, however if you already have a good PG, then Melo is the choice.

Deron Williams.

And for who I'd take, D-Will without hesitation.
