Odd Trivia

Post#1 » by tsherkin » Tue Apr 1, 2008 1:52 pm

So my dad walks up to me last night and poses to me a question:

"Baseball has the World Series, right? What's the equivalent for basketball?"

I'm like "The NBA Championship series."

"OK; here's a question: when was the last all-white team to win that?"

Evidently, he'd been talking to someone earlier in the day and had brought up my ridiculous obsession with basketball and he said to challenge me with this question.

The answer wasn't surprising, I was in the correct decade but chose the wrong team.

Who here knows the answer?

I think it's either the Philadelphia Warriors The St. Louis Hawks. I hope it's not a trick question involving one of the 70s Celtic teams and Jo Jo White.

Edit: The Hawks look pretty white, so assuming it's nobody after them.

It's kind of a pointless question. I mean who cares. Now adays we got black, white, hispanic, asian, people from all over the world. I hate it when people don't like football and basketball because many players are black.

It is a pretty dumb question. I don't understand the logic in transitioning from comparing the world series to the NBA Finals, then asking when was the last all white team to win the ring? How does he get from A to B to C? Either their was some other questions that made the transition make sense, or you're dad has some screws loose?

The Minneapolis Lakers were all white at least. Can't remember if the Nationals, Warriors and Hawks were all white too, but I'd imagine they were. Don't think any team post 1960 that won were all white.

I'd go with the 1958 Hawks.

Good call tkb, its the St. Louis Hawks. They were in Buffalo before the NBL merged into the NBA and now in Atlanta.
