Well I don't think we should base picking anyone on how well they play the NBA game. This is the int'l game and it's a lot different.
The opposing teams that Team USA is going to play will play a different style of game. Meaning success in the NBA doesn't equal success in FIBA.
We need PG's whose game will translate with other high useage players. Someone who will not dominate the ball.
Also players that can move their feet and defend the pick and roll well. Kobe was celebrated because he put a lot of energy into his defense.
My checklist in order of importance:
Ball distribution
Defense
Outside shooting

Damn. When you're discussing which player will be left off your roster and they're Billups, Deron, CP3 and Kidd, you know your team is just too good. The Brazilian national team has trouble finding one PG. You guys have 4 of the best points in the NBA. All of them have their strengths and weaknesses. Your team will still be great, no matter who gets left off.
I'd leave Billups off though. You can argue all you want that Billups is a better defender and has more experience than Paul and Williams. He probably is. But watching the US team playing, it was very clear that the offense became stagnant when he was on the court.

Still no one has brought up what Kidd brings into the locker room. Given what every player who has ever played with him has said, it is known he adds something to Team USA's locker room they didn't have before. He gives them veteran leadership and is one of the key guys in making sure they don't let off the gas, regardless of the competition. Kidd is a lock to make the team, and anyone who thinks he should be left off seriously needs to understand the differences between the international game and the NBA.

Honestly, what does Kidd bring that Deron and Paul can't do in the open floor? Less shooting, and more turnovers? Does team USA need his rebounding?
I hope it's Chris
Well, Deron has to make the team. Billups over Deron is bullcrap. Paul and Deron are already without a single doubt the two best PGs in the league. Sorry Nash, Davis, and Kidd.
Kidd really brings his passing to a starting team with LeBron, Bryant, C-Melo, Howard.
But really, the shooting by Paul and Williams and their passing abilities outcasts what Kidd brings to any game. To be quite honest, I would even consider just taking Williams and Paul.
I say take out Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Mike Miller, Michael Redd, Amare Stoudamire, and Tyson Chandler.
I say, add Chris Paul(shoe in), Ray Allen, Kevin Martin, Carlos Boozer(shoe in), David West, and Chris Bosh(shoe in).
Our front lineup is weak defensively and offensively and the last team depended way too much on the guards. I prefer 20 times to have West playing rather than Amare. Boozer and Bosh are pretty much in, and the same with Paul. Ray Allen isn't that old and he can play a couple of years, he is clutch, and he is exactly what we need. Kevin Martin is young, and statistically (and he plays tons of minutes) the bets purest shooter in the NBA (refer to Rick Kamla).
Chandler proved to be out of synch with the offense, and both him and Amare just look to block shots, rather than to provide better face to face defense.
But really, it should realistically come down to Kidd-Williams-Paul.
By the way, the person who said that Williams is better at post up, he really is, and has proved to post up against SGs, and I have seen him to get bullied by the likes of Nocioni and Anthony. The top three defender PGs have to be Davis, Williams, Billups without a doubt, and equally they are the top three post up point guards. Paul's steals compromises the defense of the team overall, and that is no real defense.
The worst evaluation ever. Deron isn't going to be posting up in international play. Many of our main competitors (not Senegal, China etc.) run massive guards. Think Marco Bellinelli, Marco Jaric type guards. Kidd still plays far superior man-to-man and team defense compared to all of the alternatives not named Billups. He's also superior at starting and leading fast breaks which allows our advantage in athleticism to shine.
We need defense on the perimeter (Kidd and Billups) more than we need passing. Not that Kidd is less of a passer than Deron or Paul anyway. their shooting is not needed with Kobe, Carmelo, Redd/Allen, and Mike Miller out there. Kevin Martin is going to look like crap in international play when he's defending huge Euro guards and SF's.
We're also gonna need someone to rebound and block shots and David West isn't going to get it done. Chandler serves a valuable role on the team even though he's only likely to get spot minutes.

I think it will end up bering Kidd, Paul and Williams. Billups performance last summer wasn't great and he certainly isn't having a better year than either Paul or Williams.
Williams size is a factor, not because he's going to be posting up, but rather its much toughr to post him up. He can guard other teams two and sometimes threes because of his strength. He's also the best shooter of the bunch.
Paul has been unbelievable this year and he should get in on those merits alone.
Kidd is the anchor of the team, and he's a shoo in as long as he's healthy.
Chauncey is a nice player but he just doesn't seem to bring as much to the table as the other guys. I'm not sure I'd put him on the team over Baron Davis right now.
