Thaddeus Gets mentioned on ESPN's Best under 23 article

Post#1 » by Mozy-76er Fan » Wed Apr 2, 2008 12:35 pm

Here is the main article:

http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/news/story ... er23-Intro

Thaddeus gets two mentions as a "wild card" to crack their top 5 best players under 23 in the future.

Here are the comments on Thad:

Hollinger: "Few people are talking about him, but he's the same age as Oden and Durant and he's been very good for the Sixers as a rookie. With an NBA body supporting an MBA head, he could be the third superstar of the '07 draft."

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/stor ... -Hollinger

Henry Abbot: "He can guard 3s and 4s, he can score on anyone at the rim, and his outside shooting shows promise. He's already a top NBA player by the measure of adjusted plus/minus. You can bet against him, but I won't."

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/stor ... r23-Abbott

High praise indeed - love the comment about Thadeus's mind!

Yeah, I'm *sure* that was their intention.

You're getting ridiculous. From the rules page:

Stay on topic.

Al Thornton isn't even eligible for this list as a rookie.

Since Iggy is 24, thus unqualified for this list, I think this article would only make him happy. I'm sure he wants Thad to be a superstar as much as anyone. AI2 + Thad = 2 future superstars.

LOL! I never even thought of that but that is true. It's amazing that Thornton is older than LeBron, Carmelo, and Dwight Howard.

Hell, is Thornton older than Iguodala???

how does Derrick Rose & Beasley get any love when they are not even in the league

Also Oden on the list, he could turn out to be great but he has not even played a game yet

Young is getting recognition. That's a very good thing for the Sixers.

Got to agree with you Johnny. Generally I think that Dabods does a great job here but that was a definite case of of overmoderating. I am the administrator of a forum with over 85,000 members worldwide (not sports related) so I can say I have been guilty of it myself, but we need to learn when to not butt it. There was no attempt to hijack the thread in this case, IMO. Just an attempt at humour.

Howard:

Sorry...gotta disagree with you, bro.

Don't know if you are a regular here, but as somebody who has been here for a long time, posters like SendEm (with their relentless, withering, one-trick-pony act) get old in a hurry. I am sick and tired of the constant anti-Iguodala posts and - even if this was one of his more minor attempts - I wholeheartedly support dabods giving this guy a beatdown whenever he deserves it.

To me, it is precisely the role of a moderator.

Agree with bebop.

As for the article, I love the praise and love the fact that some ESPN heads have already started mentioning him as possibly the top player after Oden and Durant in the draft. Not that I needed it, but gives me more confidence in Thad and his ability.

I've been on here pretty regularly since 2002 I think, and have seen these jokers come and go. (I actually have him on ignore, but wasn't signed in when I read the thread) All I was saying is of all of his posts, that was one of the most tame BY FAR and actually was kind of witty. Seemed an interesting choice to get tough on...that's all. I'd rather see him censured when he really hijacks a thread which happens daily. :banghead:

Back to the article... it's so nice to FINALLY hear a wave of positivity on non-local programming when it comes to the Sixers. We have a lot of good things going for us in the coming years, and sometimes it takes hearing it from an outsider for it to sink in......the forrest from the trees and all that... :D

Fair enough. I lurk here pretty often so I have a pretty good idea that sendem can be annoying at times but this seemed pretty minor...

As for disagreeing with me.....if I was the moderator here, right now you would be so banned!!!!! :D

Personally I wish the guy would just leave, or be ignored by everybody. It's obviously too cumbersome for these guys to moderate him consistantly, so he'll just keep on keepin on

I can't recall a 19 year old basketball player ever having a go to move as good as Thad's. I can't recall a 19 year basketball player EVER having a go to move. You have to go back many years to find a player. Lou Alcindor? Akeem? Iverson didn't develop the crossover till Georgetown.

olajuwon didn't develop the shake till he was in the nba for a little bit and i'm pretty sure he was 20/21 when he was drafted.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Thad's left hand is already deadly in the post....that's scary!

Anyone else feel like he'll avoid the sophomore swoon, being that he's pretty steady and not prone to extreme highs or lows?
