Player of the Game - Bucks vs Knicks (04/01)

I don't believe in coincidence. As soon as Sessions hit the floor, the Knicks stopped shooting so hot. Crawford stopped murdering us. Don't forget, we were getting beat up badly going into the 4th. I don't believe Mo saw any minutes over Sessions in the 4th. As great as Redd's stats were, there is something to playing breakneck defense and stopping a guy who is lighting us up.

Oh, and I did watch the game.

Redd's night was fantastic. In a vacuum, to a one-time observer of the team, Redd would get the player of the game; however, I have to give it to Sessions for his coming out party. He comes in and just changes the game. Redd will have many 30+ point nights against teams with bad defenses like the Knicks - he'll even get assists some of those nights, but for a rookie PG who's been in the D-league and seen only scrub time to come in and change the flow and feel of the game on both ends of the court, well, that stands out to me.

Sessions was not great defensively. Crawford was having his way with him until the Bucks brought defensive help.

The key to the win was when CV and Yi stayed on the bench in favor of Mason and Simmons. Their size and quickness matched up better with the interchangeable part lineups that Thomas had on the floor. That duo stabilized the Bucks on both ends of the court.

Bogut was great in the second half, after sitting out much of the first half with foul trouble. Redd and Simmons were the offensive difference - especially in the second half when they scored about 34 of the Bucks 51 points.

The Bucks played with a lot of heart and never gave up, but the player of the game for Milwaukee was Jamal Crawford.

Now I like JC, but his shots down the stretch were in-excusable. It is one thing to milk the clock, and then fire up an off balance jumper when there are 4 second left. But Crawford was throwing up terrible shots (with 15 seconds left on the shot clock) and trying to draw fouls (which stop the clock, and is not really a smart strategy when you are up 6 on the road and the refs have swallowed their whistles).

Good defense by Sessions. Good all around effort by Bogut and Simmons. Great clutch shooting down the stretch by Redd.

But we don't win that game if not for one terrible forced shot by Randolph and three terrible forced shots by Crawford within the last 4 minutes. Grown men... professionals even.... veterans you could say.... and they don't understand how to play the clock... that is why the Knicks are the Knicks I guess.

How can you guys not vote Sessions?

The Knicks were shooting 60% and Crawford was going off until Sessions came in......

And I'll maintain Sessions made the final game winning play by blocking Q's shot at the buzzer.....

I had to watch this game this morning on my DVR (had those advance screenings passes to Leatherheads last night) and haven't had a chance to hit the boards yet between work, the Brewers game, more work, and watchning my recording of the Bucks @ Wizards game... but I'll chime in now. Sessions was the BIGGEST difference in this game.

Tons of intangibles that don't show up in the box score.

Redd and Simmons played really well also (either one could be 2nd or 3rd place) and Bogut was right there as well.

But I have to go with Sessions.
