Jeff Green vs. Thaddeus Young

Post#1 » by ponder276 » Thu Apr 3, 2008 12:35 am

Both drafted in the first round of the 07 draft (though Green went 7 spots higher), both can play SF and PF, who would you rather have on your team (now and for the future), and why?

Jeff Green, he's going to be pretty good point forward in the future.....

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

I always thought Young was a much better prospect, but I do think Green is a better fit in Seattle.

Thaddeus is more athletic and better on the boards, but Green is better at just about everything else.

That may be true, but Thad is two years younger than Jeff Green, and at the moment they seem to be overall fairly comparable in terms of impact on the game. Thad's game is also rawer than Green's, suggesting that there's more room for growth.
Of course, it's really hard to judge potential after just 1 season.

True but as far as star potential I see Young as more of a role, energy type player who can finish around the rim while Green has the potential to be a go to guy with a good all around game. Young's one on one skills and perimeter shooting are lacking.

Thad easily IMO. This dude will absolutely be a star in this league whereas Green has shown nothing special at all.

Wow no, every person and scout who has ever assessed Green has called him a glue guy, sort of a Lamar Odom type, he doesn't possess go to scoring ability at all.

Young is raw, but he does have the talent to be a big time scorer.

Everytime I've seen Green this year, I've been shocked at how bad he was. This is not to upset Seattle fans, but I thought he'd be better, and he hasn't. I knew he was a poor shooter, but I expected far better rebounding and defense from him than I've gotten to see. He's also been a turnover machine.
And his 9.6 PER isn't very optimistic at all. I hope he's not a bust.

I havn't seen much of Green, so I won't comment. But I've watched just about every game of Young's and I can tell you the kid is going to be a star. As soon as he gets a more consistent jumper, were looking at two All star players at the SG SF

Jeff Green must have read this thread.

Last night he put up 35pts 10rebs and 3dime with a steal and a block.

By the way anyone who thinks Jeff Green doesn't have hops hasn't seen him play. He has tremendous athleticism.
