JailBlazer HOF
Disclaimer: Yes, I am blatantly ripping off this idea from Primetime on 1080 The Fan.
As I mentioned in the disclaimer, I was listening to Primetime and on tomorrows show, they're going to do a segment on the JailBlazer HOF. Now that we've moved on from that era of Blazer basketball, it seems quite a bit easier to look back on those days at laugh at the buffoonery of some of these players.
How would you guys rank them? Who makes it into the Top 5 of your JailBlazer HOF? Talent isn't taken into account, just pure stupidity of their actions. They also don't always have to be purely legal problems either. Just off the top of my head, here are the candidates and a short description of their offenses...
Qyntel Woods: Drugs, driving without license, using basketball card as identification, and dogfighting.
Rasheed Wallace: Drugs, accosting refs in parking lots after games, leading the league in T's, and of course, CTC.
Bonzi Wells: Flipped off fans, spit on fans, spit on opposing players, and admitted to not caring about fans.
Damon Stoudemire: Drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs and more drugs.
Isaiah 'J.R.' Rider: Assault, drugs, gambling in public, spitting on fans, kidnapping (Post-Blazers), unlawful firearm possession (Post-Blazers), more drugs (Post-Blazers), grand theft auto (Post-Blazers).
Ruben Patterson: Registered sex offender after pleading guilty to rape, assault, numerous problems caused while on the team.
Zach Randolph: Drugs, illegal street racing, sex scandal, physical fights with teammates.
Shawn Kemp: Cocain and has fathered at least 13 out-of-wedlock children with 9 different women.
Can you guys think of any who I may have left off the list?

Rasheed & Bonzi should stay on the list
just for the fact they threw a basketball
at the back of their teammates head in
practice then laughed at him.. .I heard
about this from a family friend that use
to work for the Blazers, then a few days
later I think it was, it was in the paper.. .

JR Rider may top the list simply by virtue of his cumulative jail time. His comment about blacks being lynched a few miles down I-5 was definitely a merit badge for him.
Kemp's fatherhood accomplishments deserve an honor in a special category.
I giggle every time I think about Wood's ID IQ.
And Rasheed 'threatening' an official....dumb in any event, but considering he did it when Steve Javie was standing there to act as witness...dumb squared.

1. Rider...pop can dope pipe, just plain stupid
2.Sheed... Blatant towel in Sabonis' face, general disregard for authority
3.Ruben...total idiot, mean to women and teammates, especially rookies
4.Damon...smoke this, dude
5.Woods...another total idiot
Good thing we can laugh about it now, but it sure wasn't fun at the time. Embarrasing.

1. Rider. The only thing that could keep him out of the top spot is that so many of his crimes came after he left the Blazers.
2. Patterson. Rape and domestic abuse trump most of the other crimes IMO.
3. Randolph. In addition to the stuff listed in the first post, there was also the time he watched his brother shoot some people then only reluctantly cooperated with police. There were the unregistered firearms and there was all his gang crap. And he probably raped that woman.
4. Woods. I have a serious problem with dogfighting, but it wasn't like he was masterminding it or anything. One of the worst, but I don't hate him like I used to.
5. Kemp. Drug crimes aren't as big a deal to me as most of the other stuff, but cocaine is much more serious than pot. I don't know about the parenting thing. I'm not sure I want to judge him on that. The weird part about 13 children with 9 women is that it means at least a few of the women have more than one. Unless one has five.
6. Sheed. I have mixed feelings about him. On one hand, his crimes were comparatively minor. On the other his attitude and actions may have done more harm to the team than anyone else's. I think the towel incident is the thing I most dislike him for.
7. Bonzi wasn't really much of a criminal, mostly just a dick. He did have that one trespassing-assault incident. Has alienated so many teams since leaving the Blazers.
8. Gary Grant. DUI in '01, assault incident in '00 that I don't remember anything about.
9. Erick Barkley. Was there with Bonzi for his one deal, and had a pot thing on top of that.
10. Stoudamire. I don't really have anything against Damon, who should have made better choices but is the first to admit that. Getting caught on three separate incidents is pretty stupid though.
Dishonorable mention: Miles. Deserves a mention for the gas station incident, Cheeks tirade, and attitude.

1. Clearly Rider. No one can top him
2. Patterson- Being charged with rape says enough in itself. He clearly deserves a top spot
3. Kemp- You earn yourself a spot if you have 13 children out of wedlock and are a crack addict. There's no way he can't be on this list.
4. Woods- Animal fighting is definitely worse than any drug charges.
5. Randolph, mainly because his problems came as the Blazers were trying to clean up their image. He was a PR nightmare.

What, no love for Gary Trent?
I like the list, but in this instance I'd have to say Miles is... GUILTY by association! When someone looks at our roster now he's the name that stands out as the only link to past troubles.
Even so, I laugh every time i think about Darius next to Dennis Dixon at the Dolphin, teaching him how to 'make it rain, Dennis!' as some haggard dancer in soft lighting is giggling as crisp $1's fall around her.
