Paul
Nash
Billups
Deron
Baron
It baffles me how underrated Billups is this year. His stats are better this year than Deron's ,he is leading the best team of the bunch(Which was supposed to start declining like 2 years ago) and he plays the best defense of the bunch as well..
For me Nash wins a very close comparison to Billups and Deron is a distant 4th.

No they're not. I think other than his team winnng more games, Billups only has an advantage in FT%. And Billups probably has less turnovers.

Oh yeah??His advantage in FT% must be HUGE then as Billups is the far more efficient scorer than Deron(.619% TS% to 599%) but then again it must be the fact that Billups is better at drawing fouls than Deron and shoots twice as many 3-pointers in a per minute basisCopperhead wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Also PROBABLY billups has less turnovers(TOV% 13.0% to 17.6%%) which results to 1 less turnover per 36 minutes.
Moreover Billups is marginally better /or equal in every other statistical category(scoring in a per minute basis ,Rebounding and steals).
Thats why Billups has a higher PER as well..
The only statistical category that Deron shadows Billups is his assist rate and to say the truth he shadows himby a wide margin ,but this is largely due to the difference of Utah's and Detroit's gameplan. For instance Billups doesn't play regularly the pick n roll with someone like Deron does with Boozer, not to say that if Billups had someone like Boozer he would average more assists than DWill but just to put a little perspective in each players role.
In the end though Billups runs a very effective team offense.
Also,i hope there is an explanation for the fact that when Billups is off the court Detroit's game fall apart (+9.1 net points per 100 possesios) while when Deron is out Jazz just loses a small step (+0.6 net points per 100 possesions).
Finally, Billups is the MUCH superior defender ,the more experienced veteran ,the more proven player in the playoffs and he leads the better team even though it has less talent than Jazz overall..

Well I didn't look at TS%. I pretty much looked at fg%, 3pt%, rebs, assists. I didn't DELVE into the depths of all the stats there are (TS%, net points and all that). Just pretty much the basic ones.

How??? Kenny Smith said that he'd have him taking the last shot, and Avery said that he's either the first or second most versatile player in the league. Other scouts are full of praise for him; I'd run out of room typing it here. Year after year, he has led mediocre teams to the second round or playoffs. Yet, he has managed to finish among the leaders in PER, assists, and ppg among PGs despite of him being the only option at times in his career. He had two monster series, one vs. ORL in 02 and of course, DAL. His playoff stats and PER are off the charts. He has hit clutch shot after clutch shot, has an uncanny ability to get to the rim, has freakish athleticism, and can lock down in the clutch. Do you think that any other "better player" could have led those mediocre Hornets and Warriors (last year) better than BD did? If Baron had a prime Ben Wallace, prime Amare, Marion, Boozer, etc, wouldn't you think BD would win a couple of championsips by now?If Baron had a decent team, he would have won some rings by now.

I know stats don't lie, but they don't always tell the whole story either. Billups has a running mate (RIP) who handles the ball fairly well. Deron runs with Brewer, who is good at what he does, but he doesn't have much of a handle at all. The ball is always in Deron's hands. Billups can let the offense flow through other positions, which would give him the better numbers that you pointed out IMO.

Baron has slightly better numbers in most categories, so I probably should have picked him to be honest about it. But, I have always liked Miller and he is shooting almost 50% from the floor, his ppg are the highest they have ever been in his career, and he has his team in the playoffs at the moment, so that is why I picked him over Baron, but Baron does probably belong on the list instead of Miller if you just go by the numbers/stats.

Andre Miller is in a bad team in the EAST, BD a good team in the WEST. Baron would put up 30/15 in the weak East.
