I label Larry Hughes as gimpy and he misses roughly 20-30 a season, nowadays.

i wouldnt look at games missed, id look at time injured

you can have one serious injury that puts you out for 82 games, it's the people who get injured a lot that i consider gimpy

If you hit double-figures in missed games due to injury, you're officially "gimpy".

13. Once your officially under 70 games played in a season. 69GP a season and your gimpy.

Yeah I think the magic number is 13. Anything under 70 looks gimpy on paper. but i love seeing in the nba profiles when superstars have 80-82 consistently under GP

In other words if you miss from 15 to 30 percent of games played, you can be labeled as gimpy

I think there's also the anti-gimpy, or toughness, factor to consider. Some guys miss games with headaches. Some guys play with dislocated fingers. It's all part of the equation of perception.

Frequency of injury must count. If you get a high ankle sprain, miss 10 games, and nothing for the rest of year, I prefer that to spraining a finger, missing 2 games, then getting a bruised elbow, missing another 2 games, ad infinitum.

it clearly has to be more than one year too. I mean no one is going to call Amare gimpy even though because of that one season I'm sure he averages out to almost 10% games missed.

I'd agree. Also, if it's a recurring problem (especially one with the ominous spectre of surgery, either past or future), I would more readily add the 'gimpy' label than if it is a fluke (non-stress fracture, exploding appendix).
