OT: ESPN NEWSHD

I know from another forum that MD can attest to this, but DirecTV just added ESPN NEWSHD today and it is phenomenal!!! They utilize every inch of that 16:9 ratio with everything you could possibly ask for, just awesome.

I'm go glad I have DirecTV again

espn are such hypocrites they have topics about the NFL network being on DTV and big ten network but they come out with ESPN News HD and they don't even make it available to everyone...

Chances are your cable company hasn't deemed it worthwhile just yet. I don't think it's a case of ESPN giving too high of an offer to the cable companies.

If there's any channel that doesn't need HD, ESPNEWS would be on my list. It's like CNN being in HD

ESPN news in HD is the same as SC in HD, you want to be able to see the highlights in HD when available. Not on crappy SD stretch-o-vision.

You need to get your facts straight before posting. This channel is available in HD to everyone. If your crappy cable company doesn't carry it then it's THEIR fault.

Man there are so many people that are mis-informed when it comes to HD and specifically why certain channels aren't on cable, but are on DirecTV... I think that Time Warner has spent so many years and so much money trashing Satellite that it's just second nature to trash someone other than Time Warner. You know it's equivalent to people that tell a lie so often they actually start to believe that lie.

The second thing is that this channel is not wasted by going HD because A) they learned from their ESPNHD & ESPN2HD and are utilizing EVERY INCH of your screen instead of having bars on the side...Second, even the SD highlights will look somewhat better now that the channel is in HD. I did like watching the debates in HD on CNN, but I don't watch much of it but at least having the option of watching a channel in HD is priceless.

Third, DirecTV also added 2 Disney Channels in HD for whomever is interested, lol... I know there were tons of Jamie Lynn Spears fans on this board.
