Hawks/Raptors Future On This Board

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Apr 3, 2008 11:00 pm

I want to thank all the Hawk fans that respected the Toronto fans during last nights heated game. This board will welcome our opponents to discuss or create topics as long as they respect the board. Most of you regulars are respectful and stay away from creating drama. On the other hand we did have some Hawk fans acting out on both the Toronto board and our home board. It's best to just look away and ignore ignorant comments by your fellow Hawk fans or opponents.

Not having game threads when we play Toronto did cross my mind. However, that's not fair to our board or to you, and we can't allow heated games to keep us away from talking about the team we love. This board will only grow as this team wins and at this point I'm just glad that we have a good core of mature posters that don't seek trouble.

The report button:

Some of you reported a post from a guest or by your fellow Atlanta fan last night. If you reported a post but feel it's urgent you may want to pm me the link to what the member said and let me know the user name of the poster. I receive many reports per day and at times I'm unable to look over all of them.

Your opinion is wanted.

I think it's a shame anything needs to be said. Like insulting a fanbase or a team is going to change a mistake a ref made. So immature and classless. Granted I saw a lot of mature Toronto fans on here saying to just ignore the others which was nice. Too bad they have so many trolls to ruin their rep.

The Toronto fanbase is probably the largest here at Realgm and have nine very good mods looking over the board. The majority have class and I find myself going to the Raptors board fairly often to read the topics. We have just caught the bad during some intense times this year and every team has it's bad eggs.

It's important to note that most of the Toronto fans are fine. I love visiting their board and lurking a bit, they have such a loyal and knowledgeable fan base. But when you have so many fans, there will be a greater amount of fans who will come with the trolling.

Word

and we have our own little troll squad so I wouldn't get too carried away about the Toronto fans.

if someone is getting that worked up about some plays in a basketball game just be happy that you have so much more to live for.

Please don't tell me that Hawksmaniac81 is out there annoying other people looking like a representative Hawk fan. That would really depress me.

Hey guys, thanks for not sinking down to the level of our posters...

I think its a shame that they are calling Horford names on the Toronto forum and mods aren't doing anything about it. There is no excuse for that. (By names I mean "Al Hor****" and "that f***er")

I don't care one way or another about the decision or outcome of the game but I think stooping to that level is classless, especially since Horford is a very classy player who is caught up in "bad Toronto mojo".

Point me to the posts and I'll clean them up...I spent a good hour yesterday trying to get rid of the inflammatory stuff, but it's likely that some of it was missed.

When you have so many posters there will be some bad apples. But I think HM must have breathed a sigh of relief when most of the posts by our fans were just discussing the game or situation. We had a couple of threads here after the game just bashing anything regarding the Hawks or the city itself, and for the most part everyone just ignored it. That could have gotten out of control.

I know this will sound like a major homer opinion, but I read all of the boards and I still feel this one is among the most civil. Of course there is a lot of disagreements but we never see name-calling or trolling (or that much of it) on other boards. I don't really like posting on most message boards, but there is always great discussion here.

Well, apparently Toronto fans are at a level of maturity that is in concordance with the age of the team... which is unsurprising but depressing.

You don't even got to worry about it. Everyone knows and respects the guys like you. I think mostly everyone is cooled down by now. I'll take my sig off later tonight.

There is something wrong when ballboys are the ones telling the regulars how to act. I don't understand how posters with over 1000 post continue to troll other boards as if nothing will come of it.

Post count is, of course, meaningless. It is indicative of nothing aside from time spent on the boards. There are plenty of incredibly insightful posters who merely post when they can because of other time constraints.

We've still got one genius left in the Horford tip thread.

No way it happens this year, but can you imagine a full playoff series between the Hawks and Raptors? That's my hope for next season and I hope we have home court advantage.
Going to donkey punch a leprechaun!
