This thread should be locked, and all posts deleted with the exception of this single line. That's the moral of the story here: The utter inability of Laker fans to believe that someone can think anyone in the world could be the MVP other than Kobe.

I'm a Lakers fan, Bryant is my favourite player and I hope he wins the award. I do believe that at least 2 other players could end up with the award in a month or so, with Paul having the best case. I also think that Bryant won't win it.

There, so you don't generalize the whole fanbase :).

Kobe would be my MVP but I would have no problem with Chris Paul winning it. It just feels to good to see 2 candidates who are actually DESERVING of the award as the favorites.

I have gone on record a few times saying that I don't think Kobe will ever win MVP. I will be shocked if he does win it. And at the same time I would laugh because I'd know how difficult it must've been for the media to write down Kobe's name at the top of their list .

Kobe or CP3. Either one is cool with me.

David Aldridge, who actually has a vote has his MVP ballot as follows:

1. Kobe
2. Garnett
3. Lebron
4. Paul

Politically, that got me to thinking and here's what I think is going to happen.

I think Kobe and Paul are going to split the first place votes, but I think Kobe's going to get far more second place votes than Paul.

KG over LeBron and CP3 is ridiculous. And I thought Aldridge was a smart guy. You just CAN'T vote for guys based on intangibles.

Fact: Pierce has been the best player on the Celtics this season and it's not really close..

I think this MVP race will go down in the last Hornets/Lakers game - the Winner takes MVP :P

no idea, there's a video on NBA.com, but he doesn't explain why he choose his top four in that order.

Lebron's team loses again, unfortunately. If he sweeps the table, he'll get 48 wins.

I dont care about TS% John Hollinger stats

50% shooter

45% shooter

This shows that Chris Paul is the more efficient player and does not waste possessions with bad shots. The more possessions you waste with bad shots the more fastbreak opportunities you give up.

You try and take in to account free throws, but ignore the fast break opportunities Kobe gives up with his bad shot selection at times.

Last night he was efficient and took quality shots. Hopefully he can do with on a consistent basis and not resort back to those 25 foot jumpers like against Charlotte and Memphis.

This guy acts like Kobe Bryant is the reason the Lakers lose.

B-Scott also claims Lamar Odom is a better player than Kobe Bryant and that Andrew Bynum is the MVP of the Lakers.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a valid point here, but I'm suspect of anything the guy says.

It is funny to have B-Scott paint players with consistent brushes.. but completly avoids that with one certain player.

chad ford and john hollinger both have CP3 as their #1

Charles Barkley endorsed CP3 on inside the NBA
Notes: Rookie Rudy Gay twisted his left ankle trying to guard McGrady late in the third quarter and limped to the bench. He returned with 5:51 left, then returned to the bench about a minute later - http://www.nba.com/games/20061231/MEMHOU/recap.html

Kenny Smith is now back to being a Kobe guy (says that Kobe's the only one who's done it from start to finish, while CP's had a better 2nd half). Maybe he and Chuck traded opinions.

Does Hollinger having CP3 as his number 1 honestly surprise anyone?

The guy had LeBron as his #1 when Kobe and the Lakers were 1st in the West, because LeBron has better stats.

Here's what Phil Jackson had to say:
"This year's most-valuable-player race is expected to be close. Lakers Coach Phil Jackson's nominee is the one he has seen up close for a while.

"Best year ever as far as an overall team player," Jackson said of Kobe Bryant. "I think the judgment that I kind of make is, how much better do you make your teammates? This has been one of Kobe's finest years in that regard."

Since we've had NOLA's announcer's pick, I guessed putting P-Jax's quote here wouldn't hurt. It probably isn't the most objective, but whatever.

You're going to quote Phil as if he's going to say otherwise?

I guess I can post Tyson Chandlers blog with him endorsing Chris Paul ?

I was pointing out some media guys endorsing Paul, just the same as Greg Anthony and JVG.

Except Phil has NEVER endorsed Kobe before.

They asked Phil two years ago whether Kobe should be MVP in 2005 and he talked about MVP about being on an elite team, blah blah blah. So basically, no.

Last season before the end of the regular season they asked Phil if Kobe should be on the defensive team and Phil used the opportunity to not only say no, but criticize Kobe's defense.

This season, he says Kobe is the MVP and endorsed Kobe for DPOY too.

Phil doesn't sugarcoat things. Never has.

Re, Hollinger: The guy is a nutbag. He said KG was the MVP in 2004-05 even though the Wolves didn't even make the playoffs.
