The Next LeBron?

Post#1 » by Icefire10304 » Fri Apr 4, 2008 3:47 pm

We all know how people compare current players to the great ones that have played this game (MJ vs Kobe ; Paul vs. Isiah etc) Do u think we'll ever have to compare a player to LeBron? (this is provided LeBron stays injury free) Will we ever see a player with his combination of strength, size, speed, quickness, and athleticism? Are there any high school prospects that can become "The Next LeBron"

People say that great Center's only come around every ten years. Well, LeBron James' only come every 20 years. He's built like a truck, lightning quick, versatility defined, 6'8 245 (or 6'9 260), a great ball handler and passer, etc. He's probably the best overall player ever when you take physical gifts and his excellent game into consideration ala Magic Johnson.

Magic Johnson had intangibles and had a much more creative mind in playing the game than Lebron.

LeBron is simply MASSIVE, the best combination of athletism, size and coordination.

But in terms of basketball creativity, he is still lacking there... he is just unstopppable because of his physical size and abilities... he is also skilled.. but not very special there... but for his size... yes its extraordinary. Magic is the same, except replace "athletism" with skills.

Magic was very smart and skilled... combined with talent and size...

Seems like an impossible question to answer. How could we possibly know if there will ever be another LeBron when he's still playing and we don't have a group of players who currently compare to him? Heck, we don't even have college players to compare to him. We can even go so far as to say there aren't any high school players to compare to him, since if there were, they'd be getting LeBron-esque hype before they entered college.

If you want to know the probability that there will be another LeBron, it's low.

LBJ is LBJ and Magic is Magic. They are great in different ways. The "next lebron" will be different as well.

With each new generation comes a new breed of genetic freaks. LeBron won't be the last and he certainly wasn't the first.

Here's the bottom line: There are no duplicates just similarities. Kobe is the closest thing to MJ but they're are very different at the same time. There will be no next LeBron or MJ and people need to stop labeling guys and let them be their own man. Comparisons to give people an idea of their game is fine but everyone needs to lets these guys be themselves at the end of the day, period.

Lol, green font?

Anyway, it's going to be a while fellas, if there was a LeBron like talent, we'll know about him by 8th or 9th grade at the latest.

in 15 years there will be someone who is 6 foot 11, built bigger than Howard, and can shoot like Reggie Miller, and dominate the paint like Barkley.

Errr, 15 years? We have on right now, and he is on the prowl.

Yeah I see that as well.

A 6'11 Lebron would be scary.

For now no one in site matches that size/athleticism combo.

But I think a Lebron impact could be made on the game by Michael Beasley as in becoming a star within his first two seasons

People said the same thing about Durant, I'm not saying it won't happen, but it's not as easy as LeBron sometimes has made it look.
