Houston's 22 gamer, especially after Yao went down.

Easily, imo.

Hornets...

Honestly who had them as the number 1 seed? Most people had them as a playoff team if they were healthy, but given how hard and tight the west is I believe they are worthy of the biggest surprise of the season if they get the 1st seed. Not even 2poor had illusions of that.

Just a few others:

* How tight the Top 9 are in the west
* Boston's dominance
* CP3 as a MVP candidate so early in his career
* The fall of the Heat

Everyone knew the west would be tight... given that we saw a 8 beat a 1 the year before...

Everyone knew after they got KG and Allen they would be good...

I think everyone expect greatness from Paul...

Many people predicted the fall of the heat... in fact it was considered blasphemy according to some heat fans...

The lack of fallout from the referee scandal. Before the season it seemed to be a looming cloud over everything; once the season started it hardly ever gets mentioned.

Biggest surprise would have to be Houston's 22-game stretch.

Other surprises (not already mentioned) would be Philly's play after the All-Star break, and the fact that Isiah Thomas is still employed.

I agree to an extent. They were all still suprises when they happened.

Many thought that Deron would be better than Paul this year due to his playoff performance. We all know he's good, but the year he's having is a suprise IMO because its happening now when alot of us expected it in a few years.

BOS was a unproved experiment. We knew they would be good, but the best defensive team in all the major categories. Leagues Best record.....all those things are a suprise.

MIA was a borderline playoff team to start the year, but the faild Smush signing, Riley fiasco's, Wade injury, Shaq trade, Alonzo injury made for a suprise as they are a D-League team right now.

Top 9 in the west I now agree inhindsight....but its exciting to say the least.

Either Houston's streak, especially post Yao, or Miami's abysmal fall.

I'd beg to differ.

-The Hornets and where they stand today
-Houston Win Streak
-Chris Paul making strides as the best PG in the league, bar none; also the strong consideration for MVP.
-Miami's collapse

I'd agree with a few mentioned here.

-the disappearance of the Donaghy scandal
-the collapse and breakdown of Chicago
-the Hornets (I thought they were good but not this good)
-Houston's post Yao win streak
-the Shaq trade
-the sudden rise of the Lakers pre Pau
-Portland's winning streak

A lot of other things - Boston, Orlando, the Pau and Kidd trades, firing Isiah, Philly being competitive - were all reasonably predictable.

This is being severely under looked. ESPN and most analysts had them missing the playoffs or squeaking in as a 7th or 8th seed. Hell, most people here had them missing the playoffs yet they're fighting for a top 3 seed.

- Miami and how they got rid of quite a few players.
- Rise of the Lakers
- Portland's winning streak.
- Chicago and everything thats surrounding them right now

Gasol and Shaq trades were shocking cause did come when i didn't expected.
About teams, the Bulls, i put them in one of the best 3 seeds in the East along with Celtics and Pistons, then, they are not going to make the playoffs and Sixers are going to make, a team i didn't expect to be there.
