Are the lakers healthy enough to win it this year?

Post#1 » by WadeKnicks2010 » Fri Apr 4, 2008 8:09 pm

Kobe - bad finger, although he's still the most explosive scorer in the NBA and probably the best player. I'd say he's 98% which really doesn't matter at all.

Gasol - 3-8 his last game with 7 rebounds I believe... Yeah. Ankle injuries are tough to predict.. They can linger between three days to a month depending on the severity. He had to miss an entire road trip right? He wont be 100% for the playoffs.

Bynum - The biggest question mark. Even if he were healthy he wouldn't get the numbers he would have gotten before the Gasol trade.. But since he definitely wont be fully back til next season, I doubt he'll make much of an impact in the playoffs as he did during January, and he might actually hurt the team.

Fisher - Old and has had to play a lot this year.

No not this year . They're not good enough without full strengh and they most likely don't get to full strengh this year.

How can we be good when we almost miss the playoffs. Like 2-3 games?

As long as Kobe Bryant is still breathing, the Lakers will win it.

I think we're not healthy enough. 3 out of 5 starters are playing injured at the moment, Bynum and Ariza are still out indefinitely and Walton is also playing with a season long injury. That's 6 players with injuries 2 weeks before the start of the playoffs. I'd be against predicting them to win it with a healthy roster too, so this one is pretty easy, imo.

Kobe might be hurting but he's easily the best wing player in the NBA right now. So yeah the Lakers can win it all this year.

He's been the best wing player in the NBA for the last 4 years that they haven't won it as well..

I'm going to say no, not with that health. Which is fine really, Gasol only came over mid-season. Sharpen up, make a deep playoff run (Bynum will really benefit from having a few tough playoff series' under his belt), and then they will be in a good position to win it all next year.

Right all I'm saying is that the Lakers still have a chance to win it all this year. They wouldn't be the favorites to win the title by any stretch but it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

as of today? no. bynum is not healthy. not back. and only a few games left. even with gasol, the LAKERs were winning, but still had difficulty on the interior defensively.

Overall, I'm leaning to them not winning it all this year, one of Spurs, Celtics, Pistons will.

this isn't their year. even if bynum is fully healthy, they need another year for his development before they're truly capable of winning it all against the likes of the spurs/suns/celtics.

The West is a lottery, it's going to be crazy and anything can happen, but the Lakers will win min. 1 championship in the next 5 years.
