Who is the real superman? Dwight Howard or Shaq?
Shaq is angry that people are calling Dwight Superman and not him. Is he right that Dwight has no right to be called by that nickname? How do i make the link clickable? http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/o ... 2335.story

As much as I despise what Saq O'Crap is doing to my favorite franchise with that gigantic mouth of his, it's his accomplishments that make him Superman. Dwight, right now, can only dream of doing what The Big Saq has done...
Well if this is the qualification for being called Superman then Jordan should be Superman and everyone should just STFU. You don't get nicknames for what you've done in your career, otherwise C. Anderson wouldn't have been Birdman, he wouldn't have a nick at all. You get a nickname because that's what the fans, media, your teamates want to call you.
The fact is that Shaq has proclaimed himself Superman for so long but it has never caught on. Dwight on the otherhand did something that made the media and most everyone else start calling him Superman.
Why do people call Tony Battie Batman? I'm pretty sure it's not because of his career stats, it's because it connects and it sticks. And Shaq, no matter how hard he tries, specially at this point in his career will never be known as Superman.

you're the REAL superman!

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Well, it doesn't necessarily connect in any REAL sense...obviously it's just because of his last name. Not because of his personality, something he did on the court, or his style of play, etc.
I didn't even know he was "Batman" until he came to the Magic, to be honest.
(Battie's the man, though. Just sayin')
But yeah, Shaq is Superman because of his bigger than life persona, his dominance, his love for the character, the tattoo, that sort of thing.
Dwight is a different actor taking on the role, just like in TV and in the movies. He's a dominant, musclular big who flies through the air and is a rebounding machine. The image of him soaring to the hoop with the Superman outfit on and the red cape floating behind him will always be an iconic image of him.
