The Washington Wizards @ the Chicago Steers -- April 5, 2008

Post#1 » by DallasShalDune » Sat Apr 5, 2008 5:35 am

The Washington Wizards @ Da Bulls!

Date: Saturday, April 5th, 2008
Time: 8:30pm (EST)

Who is going to win??

Our 39-37 Bullets
PG: Antonio Daniels
SG: DeShawn Stevenson
SF: Caron Butler, 2 Time All-star
PF: Darius Songaila
C: Brendan Haywood
Honorable Mention:
Gilberto Let's keep it up, Gil, and keep playing well!

or those 30-45 Steers

PG: K Hinrich
SG: L. Hughes
SF: L. Deng
PF: D. Gooden
C: J. Noah

Honorable Mention:
B. Gordon Dude can score in bunches, but is he better than a returning Gilbert Arenas?

Matchup of the Night:
Darius Songaila and Andray Blatche vs. Drew Gooden
Why does this mofo always play well against us? Maybe it'll be different now that he isn't with LeBron setting him up, but Kirk Hinrich. Let's see if we can keep him to single digits scoring and boards.

X-Factor(s) for our Wizards:
Gilbert Arenas
Let's see if our franchise can get a double double of the bench, or better yet, a triple double. 15-10-10 would rocket us into an almost automatic win.

Games of the Day:
ATL @ PHI
TOR @ NJ

Go Atlanta and Jersey!

--------------------------

I'm 6-2 with these game threads, which is surpising. Let's see if we can win. I'm predicting a big win by our boys, by 10, after three agonizingly close quarters.

We have 6 games left versus Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Boston, Indiana, and Orlando.

Chicago and Indiana are must wins IMO.

Orlando will hopefully be resting their staters for the last game of the season, so we can get a win their.

If we can get the two games I said are must wins, a win versus a resting Orlando, and 2 of the 3 versis PHI, DET, and BOS the fifth spot is ours. But thats best case scenario.

The critical game for us to the fifth seed is the Philly game, that game is HUGE!

6-0 in final 6 games getsus the 5th no matter how you cut it. If Cleveland was to totally collapse we could get 4th not likely though. Chances of us running the table are slim knowing this team, but not imposible.

5-1 in the final 6 games almost guarentees us the fifth unless we lose to Philly, also still a chance to catch Cleveland slim but possible. Chances of this happening would be tough but doable.

4-2 in the final 6 games would probably get us the fifth if we beat Philly. Chances of this are very realistic, we need Jamison though.

3-3 in the final 6 games gives us a 50-50 of getting the fifth seed, but we would need to beat Philly. Chances of this is very much possible, but with this record we'd probably get the 6th seed.

2-4 in the final 6 games gives us either the sixth or seventh seed, unless both Philly and Toronto colapse and we beat Philly. Chances of this happening are unlikely, but if Jamison is gone longer then expected, then we could see this.

1-5 in the final 6 games probably gives us the seventh seedwith a slim to none chance to get the sixth. Chances are unlikely, barring a huge colapse on our parts.

0-6 in the final 6 games, hello Detroit, hell maybe even Boston. I doubt this will happen.

My prediction is 4-2 with a huge win over Philly, worst case 2-4.

As for this game, we need to come out running our offense. Don't take this team lightly, as for they will be looking to play spoiler, not to mention they dealt Cleveland a home loss with Hughes with a near triple double. Containing Gordon, forcing Hughes to shoot jumpers, and rebounding will be key. Hopefully our guys will play with a sense of urgency and get out to an early lead, so we can with stand and almost curtain Chitown run. I like our chances, but this is a back to back. We need this win though badly or we put the pressure on ourselves. Hopefully the Hawks can go get one versus Philly and Vince and Jefferson have good nights verse Toronto.

The best part of our seeding is that if we get a win over Philly, Im almost positive we have tie breakers versus both them and Toronto, after head to head record its division record right which we have a better one then Philly, if its Conference then we have a 1 game lead on Philly as of now, we would still need to play well in the final games to get this one as well.

Chicago just won a tough game at Cleveland, so we're catching them when they're playing rather well.

All I know is that Chicago loves the long-ball, and Washington almost makes a point of trying not to guard the 3pt line. And if Miami, a terrible, terrible team in every aspect of the game of basketball, can get a franchise high in 3pters made, then surely a team that's actually adept at shooting them can hit their fair share as well.

Barring a really good game from the good guys, I see this as a loss. Unfortunately.

Here's hoping Gil doesn't try to turn this into a duel with Larry.

We still haven't played a lick of defense since the Detroit game. I'm not confident about any game until I see the team defend again.

I don't understand why we double the other teams scrubs in the post. This looks like Eddie Jordan defense from the last couple of years and not the one we saw earlier this year.

I still expect a win, though. Nick Young and Pesh step up big.

I can't remember the last possession, let along the last game, where doubling down low in the post has been successful.

I mean, I can understand doing it if it caused us to win a few games and shut a few great post scorers down, but this hasn't happened.

It honestly makes no sense. It's so easily correctable, but we just refuse to stop.

I'm hoping Gil picks it up a notch with his scoring, we will need it to win probably. Miami put up some points on us, and the Bulls should be able to as-well.

Looks like Jamison might be playing tonight according to the Wizards blog. If not tonight, then Wednesday.

I think Tawn shouldn't play tonight. He should rest that shoulder for nrext week.

I'm really relieved that Jamison's injury is not serious, we need him for this final stretch and the playoffs.

"Antawn Jamison, who missed last night's win over the Miami D-Leaguers with a sprained right shoulder, is officially listed as doubtful but I'd be shocked if he played given the fact that he couldn't raise his right arm above his head yesterday." -Ivan

Nick Young is going to explode for 20 wins and we will win. Should be a good game, I always love when we play the Bulls.

We need this win tonight and the Bulls seem to play us tough every time we play. I'd like to see the Wizards open a can of whip ass on the Bulls, time to get in the right state of mind for the playoffs. Win or go Home.

Ugh. I sprained my shoulder about six weeks ago and it took about (yes, seriously) 2-3 weeks before it was really right again. Even now it hurts a bit -- I just can't imagine playing basketball only a couple of games after spraining it.
