Fan Appreciation Month

Post#1 » by Dick Tate » Fri Apr 4, 2008 6:54 pm

Sonics giving up? Au contraire

"Our fans are integral to our success," Sonics president Danny Barth was quoted as saying in the news release (danger: severe eyebrow arching ahead). "We are proud to award them with more prizes, better entertainment and bigger value for the remainder of the season. We have a great April planned for our fans, and we're looking forward to a lot of fun over the next three weeks."

Keep the blinders on, Pal. I'll let you know when the team isn't here anymore.

I for one am very upset. I just realized during the game tonight that our last possible game in Sonics history isn't being broadcasted on TV. I am in tears right now.

I at least expected to hear KC call our last game ever (possibly). Now I don't even get that.

Fan appreciation my @ss. They can kiss mine. I am so fed up with this franchise right now. It's disgusting.

And what a better way to kick of fan appreciation month than by running a poorly organized post-game giveaway that none of the players want anything to do with. Thanks for nothing, and **** everyone involved.

I think the people who organized it should be send packing someplace like where no one wants to live. I mean, like Siberia or even Oklahoma City....

BTW: Holding a fan appreciation month under those circumstances is just a joke. But what else should we expect by a franchise run by Clay Bennett? :nonono:

I honestly pity the players in that situation, who wants to be forced to walk out and pull a PR stunt just minutes after yet another brutal loss?

Earl Watson attempted to exit the arena through a back door, according to a team official, but a marketing staff member instructed him to walk onto the court. An irritated Watson said to the staff member, "Don't yell at me unless you're my parent."

As a fan this type of behavior disgusts me. He was acting like a spoiled brat and he knew it...which is why he stayed longer by signing autographs and taking pictures.

I don't blame him entirely for the way he behaved...Clay has made this year tough on everyone. You tend to assume that the move doesn't really take a toll on the players as much because they understand the business side of this league, but they are obviously impacted by it as well.

And WTF was up with Swift? He should have milked that affection from the fans...he doesn't have too many people wanting to take home his shoes I'd think.

I'm just curious.. what else does this "Fan Appreciation Month" entail? Are there any pre-game giveaways scheduled for the remaining games?

^Not sure. If it was a month or two ago, I'd be able to find that information out for you on the Sonics website. Since they changed it, I haven't been able to navigate it as well. Go figure...thanks Clay!
