From the LA Times Blog

http://lakersblog.latimes.com/

BK will have a formal practice report coming later today, but called me from the freeway to give y'all a Cliffs Notes rundown. In a nutshell, Pau Gasol participated during all of today's practice and assuming there's no negative reaction as a result of said participation, he should be on the court tomorrow against the Blazers. His actual PT is still up in the air, but that would indeed be a step forward. And while Andrew Bynum didn't take part in the practice proceedings, he did run the court today, supporting his body weight in its entirety (as opposed to work on the Lakers' futuristic, space age treadmill, which takes up some of the pressure for him). Obviously, he won't be suiting up tomorrow, but Drew will head out on the road with the team on Saturday, meaning there are hopes alive for action either Sunday in Sacto or a week from today in Portland.

Optimistic news on both fronts.

looks like pau is in for the blazers game. still glad roy isn't playing.

hearing that andrew is running the court on his own is amazing. this could be quite a week for lakers fans.

only bad thing is that ariza doesn't seem to be getting any positive news regarding his injury.

I think Phil might disagree.

Well, that's interesting. I do wonder what it is that Phoenix's staff seems to have that we don't.

Found this video the Lakers provided on the anti gravity "alter-g" treadmill we keep hearing about.

The Lakers are riding the return of Pau Gasol, who returned from a sprained ankle Wednesday. Gasol said it responded well when he woke up Thursday and he was glad to get the first game out of the way.
"It was good feeling," he said. "It was positive."

Derek Fisher and Luke Walton were given Thursday off.

now what's wrong with Luke? He is his fathers son... he's injury prone and will fight a brave fight against pain, but I honestly think he will have a shortened career due to degenerative injury conditions.

Andrew Bynum and Trevor Ariza, two Lakers still on the mend, won't play in any of the final six regular-season games. Bynum, sidelined for the last 40 games by an injured left knee, will accompany the team on its two-game road swing so that his progress can be monitored during practice. "The actual experience of playing together in a practice session is probably best for him so that we can work things out together," Jackson said. "Obviously, it takes a different energy level to do it in game competition because of the heightened performances when you get on the floor in an NBA game. But I think we'll be fine whether he plays in a regular-season game or he starts playing sometime during the playoffs." ... Ariza has missed 38 games with a broken right foot, and doctors have asked the coaching staff not to have him run yet. He'll have another diagnostic test to see if the fracture is completely gone before he is given clearance.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the Lakers are just going to keep them out till the playoffs, even though they're ready now, so teams don't get an idea of how the four of them play together?

I think it's more strategy now than actual healing.

I think you may be right Ty but the Lakers can beat any of the lowered seeded teams 6-8 without Bynum and Ariza. So regardless if other teams have film on them or not does not matter since they will be needed more for the second round.

Im kind of sad to hear that we cannot get the two on the court before the playoffs. But TyCobb i think you have a point it would make a lot of sense to prevent others to start planning defenses against our two 7 footers.
