Next Year's team

Post#1 » by Devilzsidewalk » Sun Apr 6, 2008 4:22 am

how should next years team look? rules are you can't have rose or beasley on the team because odds are against that happening , you can't add a full MLE guy because odds are against that happening, and you cant use both 2nd rounders because Glen Taylor has are inexplicably ruled that out. and the 2nd rounder should make sense. I'd say go off the mocks, but I see guys like Bill Walker and Brandon rush and CDR in the 2nd round mocks, and thats mega preposterous imo.

my team

c brook lopez - richard - madsen
pf jefferson - cookie
sf gomes - brewer
sg mccants - jaric
pg foye - mario chalmers

this is the immediate future I think for the wolves. i doubt they make offers to telfair or snyder because they're working on the cheap. Any free agent moves besides maybe a guy for the minimum will be a surprise. Maybe chris duhon I'm hoping for

I like the Lopez and Chalmers picks

btw, I must add in that my dream 2nd round is Walker and Jason Thompson

my dream is for the wolves to actually use the 2nd rounders (assuming they dont package and make a move) but I get the feeling glen taylor is just penny pinching. but wtf, its not like we're the spurs, we cant afford to throw away assets, high 2nd rounders dont grow on trees and our roster sucks, its not like we got so much depth that theres no way we can improve on it. ridiculous that theyd dare declare months before the draft that they dont want to use that pick.

this draft could end up kinda deep, who knows who will be in the draft yet

we could use depth at pg, swing spot, or center

glen taylor use to seem like a kickass owner in the sprewell days, now hes getting weird and not helping the cause by not using all the assets in hand.

he didn't say we wouldn't use it, I think he just said we wouldn't have 3 rookies next year. I mean it's not like we're just going to throw it away, maybe we'll package them and move up in to the 1st or maybe we draft a Euro or maybe 2 players high on the Wolves draft board slip to those picks and they decide to take bring them both in next year anyway, because honestly if Richard doesn't come back next season because of it, I'm not losing any sleep over it. Brewer is the only reason I would want to keep Richard or maybe team chemistry, but you really gotta weight whether that's worth it. You can't start making moves to please players like Corey Brewer (or anyone). We did that with Garnett and we ended up giving contracts to guys like Hudson and Hassell.

Telfair-resigned to moderate contract.
Gomes to significant deal, but less than the MLE.
Richards to one year deal.
Smith gone as too much $ to keep him and Gomes
Snyder gone, unless Jaric deal is made.

1st Round: Brook Lopez
2nd Round: DJ White
2nd Round: Nikola Pekovic (big to stash overseas one more year).

PG: Foye, Telfair, Jaric
SG: McCants, Brewer
SF: Gomes, Brewer, Jaric
PF: Al, White
C: Lopez, Richard, Madsen

If we can't get Rose, we'll roll with Foye and Telfair and go heavy on size. Richard will probably get one year until we have the roster spot to bring in Petrovic.

Assuming this also means Buckner and Walker are kept to expire rather than traded.

I'm going to assume Lopez gets taken by Memphis ahead of us. So we will take Mayo with our first and Devon Hardin with a second (we take Omer Asik with the other second and stash him overseas for a couple years). We then sign POB to a cheap contract.

c Hardin - POB
pf Jefferson - Gomes - Madsen
sf Gomes - Brewer
sg Mayo - Mccants - Jaric
pg Foye - Mayo - Jaric

option 2: we package some picks and move up to get Thabeet.

c Thabeet - POB
pf Jefferson - Gomes - Madsen
sf Gomes - Brewer
sg Mayo - Mccants - Jaric
pg Foye - Mayo - Jaric

Actually we are in 3rd as of now. I am sticking with Brook Lopez and then packaging both 2nd rounders to move up and draft Devon Hardin or the other Lopez. Resign Telfair because he knows our system and with the option of putting foye at the 2 occassionally, Bassy should be happy about his minutes. Sign Gomes.

Lopez / Hardin or RLopez
Jefferson / Gomes / Richard
Brewer / Gomes
McCants / Jaric
Foye / Telfair
