KG missed 9 games earlier this season and after securing the top record he'll probably miss a couple more. That takes him out of MVP consideration.

AI won in '01 when playing only 71 games.

Forget the KG MVP discussion for a moment because that is a team playing a team game. 8)

Congratulations Celtics!

How bad must the Bobcats feel? Worse yet, my Raptors were beaten by that same Bobcats team the previous night... I think I'll feel sick. I'm glad Boston won though, especially with the young guys getting minutes. That's a special experience for them, getting to don Celtics jerseys in a starting situation during such an important season.

That's great for Boston, hopefully they make it to the finals if they want to use that home court all the way.

KG is my boy, but I don't think you can leave out other people who deserve as much credit as he does.

Tom Thibedeou, who has also brought a defensive mindset to the team.

Danny Ainge, for surrounding Paul Pierce with two all-stars and giving them a bench that is playoff tested with players like Posey, Cassell, House and Brown. Also for drafting Big Baby.

Paul Pierce and Ray Allen who have been playing defense and giving just as much effort on the D as they do on the O.

We don't feel bad at all, if you notice we gave up in December. The players don't listen to anything the coach says.

Tom Tib should win coach of the year...sorry Doc but your team's strongest point is defense and that ain't your defense.

Adelman should have said screw Elson Turner and just kept Tib.

The team just blew out someone to secure home court without the Big 3. Boston's success this year without him will hurt KG.

for what the mvp? he already has one.

the DPOY is his i think.

the mvp is going to cp3 since it'll be hard for the hornets to not keep the number 1 seed after todays win.

unless ppl want to give it to kobe for his career achievements.

This is very good for the Celtics they're going to need homecourt advantage.

um okay there.

did doc have kevin garnett last year? did he have guys like posey off the bench.

many coach have defensive schemes. its up to the players to execute them and take pride in their defense.

give doc credit. especially for getting his entire team to focus and basically getting three great offensive players to play team ball with quite a few young players he had to work with this season as well. its not that easy. and all in one season.

a lot of teams have 3 all stars - ahem nuggets, ahem suns - guys with massive egos. both those two teams suck so bad on the defensive end.

doc was a defensive minded player IIRC. so lets give him some props for hiring tom, having his assistant coaches have a say in things. not a lot of coaches would tolerate that stuff.

if you haven't noticed, the offense of the Celtics is very efficient. defense can't win you every game. doc of course has a say in that.

Why can't a player win more than MVP? Kobe should not get the MVP on his career. The Celtics winning is a result of Kevin Garnett. What he does on offense, defense, and in the locker room. Without him the Celtics do not have Cassell, House, or Posey (all of whom are critical to every celtics game). Without KG's leadership, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce are still playing lackadaisical defense and concentrating on putting up offensive numbers.

I'll give Doc credit for allowing Tib to do his thing. Many coaches would just be like my way or the highway. But he has given Tib the freedom do the things he wants with his defense. I am sorry dude..I am a Rocket fan...I know how good of a coach Tib is. Magic fans can tell you more about Doc's defensive coaching skills. And you can say oh well he didn't have any defensive minded players in Orlando....ok....

Think about it...who on the Rockets before we got Battier was a good defensive player? Yet we had a great defense with JVG and Tib that got better when Battier arrived. Doc deserves credit for simply allowing Tib to do what he does.

true. but pp imo is equal to kg right now in terms of team mvp. i think pp has elevated his game. kg is his normal self. if its possible for him to be even more intense ...lol.

imo anyway.

i think the DPOY is the best award frankly and i think he'd appreciate that one because it speaks to his team.

the mvp btw is so cursed. after dirk, who seriously wants it?
its not really an upset if the number 1 in the west loses in the first this year.

its like getting on the madden cover. you know an injury is around the corner

Iggyemu - defense isn't everything though. the c's offense is hard to stop.

i hate that award.
