Despite the heavy anti Nellie sentiment here, I think he'll play more than Harrington next season along side Dre. Team is on the right path, just that this dip**** is frickin cheap. This the only team in the hunt in the West that is TRUELY under the cap even when signing their young guns.

For some reason, there's this fallacious belief that Cohan isn't cheap. A few years ago, I posted our payroll rank over the Cohan era and we've consistenly been in the 20's. It's a joke.

i hate cohan but i've defended him in the past regarding cheapness. no more. in the past there wasn't anything to really complain about salary wise. we lacked talent and cap space. we overpaid a bunch of guys, and jamison's max deal was cohan's call. we never really lost players because we didn't spend money. the team sucked so there was no reason to go into the lux tax to get another 9th man. the only questionable move was dumping jamison.

this time its different. we actually had a playoff team. i'm still fine with the richardson trade because of wright. what we failed at was using that exception to bring in a vet or two who could play 10-15 mpg and take some of the load off of baron, jackson, and monta. we tried with a bunch of injured has-beens at the minimum but failed to use the exception to get a guy like cassell or kurt thomas or whoever. cohan wouldn't spend the money.

what's really shameful is that ticket prices are up and we're selling out like every game, setting all kinds of attendance records, and cohan won't put any of that extra profit (he was already making like $10 mil a year when we sucked) into the product now that there is something worth investing in. screw cohan. cheap prick.

Just to throw something else out there...if we miss the playoffs by the skin of our teeth do you guys see Cohan "anteing up" for the extra piece that would push us into the middle of the postseason pack next year?

If the guy is that hard up for money I would think that he might miss the instant millions generated from the playoffs; ie higher priced and sold out playoff seats, extra concession sales, extra TV and radio revenue, increased fan optimism going into the next season, etcetera.

If we had pushed for the use of our Trade Exception its likely that we would not be in this dog fight at the end of the season.

We're going to be teetering the luxury tax line after our draft picks, Goose, and Tay are signed. I don't blame Cohan for not going over the tax in any season. But, I hate the fact that nothing was done with the exception when we're like 8M below the tax line this season.

Same here. I really hope that the reason the TE was not used was because the FO is planning to be over the tax next year, as a one time thing, and they were saving the money this year to overspend next. So, there's maybe a 1 % chance I won't be pissed at Cohan next year too.

Maybe you just mean a sign and trade with another team that is under the cap?
