Predict Clippers next year...

Post#1 » by Kobay » Mon Apr 7, 2008 7:45 am

Well, everyones hung up on Portland making some noise next year but we've forgotten the all mighty clippers. They hopefully get Brand 100% and Kaman looked like top center this season. They also started out 1st place in the first 10 games or so and have very athletic young guards.

West will be even more ridiculous/exciting/oh S* we might not make the playoffs next year.

I would say they will probably be around 5th seed with 50wins

They'll probably be a 7th or 8th seed. The West is just amazing.

Kaman
Brand
Thornton
Magette (if resigned)
Livingston isn't bad. Depends upon what kind of return Livingston can make.

Just hoping stern eliminates conference match up and make its 3 east - 3 west games per team. ANd no conference match up in playoffs, 16 teams with best record make it and face each other.

Bayless
Maggette
Thornton
Brand
Kaman

A great lineup. My only concern would be perimeter defense. I could see them trading Maggette or even Thornton for a more defensive-orientated player.

Deep lotto. Livingston wasn't good even before he wasn't hurt. Now he's coming back from injury. Not a good sign.

Mags is likely gone.

The West is filthy.

Who the hell is going to get worse next year?

The West is crazy.

The top-9 this year won't get any/much worse.

Portland will get better.

Sacramento will add a piece in the draft and are always tough to beat at home.

Clippers will be better.

Wolves and Sonics won't be down in the dumps any more.

I think it depends on Livingston. If he makes a big recovery and plays like he can, then they could be a 7th or 8th seed (barring key injuries). If he doesn't, I think they'll be a 9th or 10th seed.

Although I look for phoenix dallas and denver to get worse next year
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

lotto

It sucks that it looked like that franchise was finally turning around, getting to the 2nd round, but now it looks like they will be back on the bottom for a while

Maggette may leave and if so, they might as well trade Brand.. no use if paying him so much to be a lotto team... Hopefully they get someone like Mayo in the draft and Livingston can come back strong... Kaman, Mayo and Livingston can be a pretty solid core in the future

Im not so sure about the Clips...They can either be a 7th, 8th, end of the lottery team...Or end up tearing it down and rebuilding.

There is just alot of question marks...

How good will Brand be?
Will they trade him?
Dont think Maggette will be back
Who do you draft?
Will Livingston be any good?
Lots of free agents potentially leaving?

I really root for the Clips because i know you guys are true fans

I hope you guys do good...But 50 wins is kind of unrealistic IMO

hmm I think that a lot will depend on whether they luck out in the draft and can keep Maggette + Brand. I think that depending on these two factors, they can go from anywhere between first round fodder and being bottom 3 again.

If they luck out on these two factors, then I can see them being a 6th-8th seed. This will be if they re-sign Brand and Maggz while getting a top 2 pick with which to select Derrick Rose. Then their line-up will look like:

C Kaman/???
E Brand/T Thomas
A Thornton/Q Ross
C Maggette/C Mobley
D Rose/S Livingston

However, if Maggz bolts to Orl or something and Brand bolts to Philly and they get the 8th pick then they'd be REALLY REALLY bad next year. Bottom 2 for sure. If they pick Blake Griffin:

C Kaman/???
B Griffin/T Thomas
A Thornton/Q Ross
C Mobley/????
?????/S Livingston

Yeah, that's a damn terrible team. So it really depends on how the off season goes

They're due for some luck in the lottery.

Beasley makes no real sense for them unless they are trading away Brand, so Rose would be a great pick for them.

Adding Rose could probably keep Maggette and Brand 'interested'

Livingston, even if he comes back, has not had anywhere near enough experience to run a playoff team in the west.

I mean even if all goes well, are they better than Denver, Warriors or Dallas, Blazers?

I'm not convinced of that at all. If they were in the east they would be the 6 seed.

They have so many question marks, it is impossible to predict. If things break right for them and Brand/Maggette return and Livingston comes back strong they will be dangerous.
