Karl has done his job. You guyses should start lobbying for Van Gundy to return.

Unless Iverson can get assurance of a contract extension, he won't opt out. Anywhere else he can't get more than the mid-level.

AI will probably be here...so what coach do you really think will alter Melo and AI desire to play defense? Larry Brown?? Melo will mope and be on the bench and AI will be b**ching the entire time... JR...will probably be kicked off the team...etc... Van Gundy? won't change who they are.... You can't talk championship...you have to bleed and sweat a championship and you have to be selfless...you have to be willing to sacrifice some of your number for the betterment of the team.

These guys have to put in the hard work and I just don't see all of them doing the dirty work it takes to win championships.

Artest is looking pretty good now isn't he?

Denver's biggest problem is wing/guard defense, something that Artest is one of the best, if not the best in the league.

AI/Artest/Melo/KMart/Camby...

Well you can have 5 all-stars and be the Harlem Globtrotters, that doesn't make up for the style of play that needs 150 points a game to win consistently. It's unrealistic. The mentality, style of play and philosophy of this team needs to change, with the same squad or a different one, doesn't matter. The Nuggets will never go anywhere, with any players, without a different approach.

Bingo.

A stifling defense and a methodical offense are boring, but they win championships. Look at the success of the Spurs and the Pistons over the last few years. Look at the defensive rankings of the teams with probably the best shot of winning it all this year, compared to the Nuggets:

1. Boston 90.0
2. Detroit 90.3
3. San Antonio 90.6
5. New Orleans 95.4
29. Denver 106.9

Isn't this painfully obvious? The Nugs and the Warriors are great fun to watch, but if you're interested in a trophy, we're going in precisely the WRONG direction.

Tear it down, get a new coach, follow the lead of the teams who want to win championships. The good news is we have a lot of attractive trade bait.
