The Suns game is a season changer...

Post#1 » by your_dallas_mavericks » Mon Apr 7, 2008 3:01 pm

How we won the Suns game I believe is a season changer. Remember when I said we would go 7-0 on our way out? Yes, we lost to the Fakers in the Staples Center but so far we've won the rest. We've got 5 games left, 4 of them against lesser opponents, the final one against New Orleans who could be resting their starters...

How we played against Golden State at home opened our eyes. We were looking for some level of consistency of play and overall attitude from the Mavs. Yes, we lost in LA to the Fakers, but it was a road game and in that game some coaching decisions were made that probably are the reason we lost that one. We didn't lose yesterday. Our defense came through. Despite the fact the team made only one three pointer (Dirk), we persevered. This game is a season changer...

We have the proof, the continuation of what we saw against the Warriors. This team won't die. They fight to the end, even without Stack in the lineup. This team is primed for an upset in the playoffs. Who we end up beating is up in the air. But, I believe this team is far from a 7th seed and whoever ends up 2nd will wish they weren't in a few weeks...

Could it be the Fakers? San Antone? the Hornets? Whoever it is, I have full faith we will stomp them. This team has something, an extreme mental toughness I have not seen in them, possibly ever...

Don't Mess with Da Mavs!

Edit: Edited costly mistake, changed LA Clips to 'Golden State' or 'Warriors'
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I still think playing San Antonio gives us the best chance at advancing. I dont think it was yesterdays game that was the season changer as much as the Golden State game was. Dirk has been playing at another level lately.

Here is my list of who I wish the Mavs would play in the first round:

1. Houston (of course!)
2. Utah (lightning could strike twice)
3. New Orleans (lack of playoff experience)
4. San Antone (like dfp says, we can win there easily)
5. LA Fakers (time to exorcise those demons once and for all!)

Edit: Added 'in the first round'
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I don't care who we play as they are all tough opponents that can eliminate us if we don't bring our A game every day.

And the only way this game turned our season around is if Vaery leans that Dampier is an important player to leave on the court with true centers and he can only get away with Bass at center against Amare, Harrington, Gasol or many of the PFs are manning the middle.

Bass is good against PF, just not Centers. Bass really got under Duncan's skin the last time we played San Antone... Bass needed a wake up call, It looks like from last game that he didn't hit the snooze button again... Bass takes a lot of jump shots, how come we never get onto him for that? Is it because they are mostly in the paint or on the baseline? Bass I am betting got benched for poor defense, not shot selection... At least he played last game. I hope Malik Allen doesn't play big minutes anymore. I don't like his defense and he doesn't rebound very well.
