Det, I guess I think much shorter term and have a very little loyalty! I really did enjoy the Clippers when the took the Suns down to the wire in the playoffs. But, I lost interest pretty quickly. This year they are quite painful to watch. (Though, Thornton is still kind of exciting.) And I agree with you, if they somehow secure a decent PG, they will be a very fun team next year.
I should also note that Portland is going to be a very fun team next year, but we all know that already.
Who is your 2nd and 3rd favorite teams besides the Seattle

I think a number of you need to read the latest Simmons mailbag, paying particular attention to the question from Jonathan C. in Walla Walla (fairly early in the article). I only reluctantly admit to being a Simmons reader since his views are asinine half the time, but I happen to think he hits the nail on the head on this issue.

I usually avoid ESPN articles, just because so much on that site requires Insider registration, which I don' t want to pay for.
Where I disagree with Simmons, here, I think, lies in my embarrassing lack of loyalty. I readily admit that I have a hard time following one team, especially a team like this year's Sonics. So, I think about it, and consider what really gets me excited about basketball. It isn't because I associate my loyalties so strongly that when a team does well, I somehow connect it to my own happiness. What really gets me excited are good basketball games. (And, yes, I think that bears a strong connection with my happiness.) So, on occasion, I could genuinely be any team's fan. (On a slightly tangential note, this is why I love the Western Conference so much this year; there are so many good teams, and great games on a daily basis.)
Of course, take what I said with a grain of salt. Obviously, I tend to follow the Sonics more. But, I think that this is more because of familiarity than loyalty. Nearby teams are more familiar, that is what is people watch and talk about, which is why I follow them closely. They are also familiar in the sense that I am familiar with their history. So, I enjoyed very exciting games as a child, from the Kemp/Payton era. In that sense, I truly do consider myself a Sonics fan.
In other words, I haven't followed the Sonics because I am loyal, rather, I am loyal because I follow the Sonics. The connection isn't as strong as you might think, or as strong as many of you have. And the way I get out of this Euthyphro-style dilemma is that there is something, at bottom, that really gets me excited about basketball, viz. exciting games.
From these considerations, that is why I would have no problem becoming a Portland fan. I probably follow the Blazers just as closely as I follow the Sonics. If the Sonics move, then they will no longer be familiar. The Blazers will be my most familiar team. Moreover, the Blazers are going to be one of the most exciting teams in the league.

I've been a Hornets fan since their Charlotte days when they had young Baron Davis, Bobby Phils, David Wesley, Jamaal Mashburn, PJ Brown, and rookie Jamal Magloire.
I can't honestly pinpoint any other team that I would consider my third favorite team. I follow the Raptors since I'm from Canada( but since I'm from the Vancouver we have a rivalry with Toronto in pretty much everything). I cheer for the Suns since Steve Nash is the player from these parts. I've always admired the Pistons organization but can't really call myself a fan.
So besides Seattle there's only the Hornets that I would say I'm a fan of. And where they play out of isn't an issue. I would cheer for them regardless of the city they're in.
