surely it's not that funny to you...it's just a difference in opinions...I don't care how many people think I am wrong, I am sticking with my statement...

I'll have to admit, Ridnour does play better defense than Jameer does. One reason being that luke is what 6-2 and Jameer is 5'10? Secondly, Ridnour has better hands on defense and has a really good knack of playing the passing lanes. Jameer has yet to show that he can commit to defense.

You're right, Watson is a much better defender than Ridnour...and half the other starting PG's in the league. So it's not fair to bring that into the discussion. We are talking about Jameer and Luke. If Jameer played on the sonics, he'd also be behind watson. Especially with his turnovers as of late and his wacky shooting.

I live in Seattle and the Magic and Sonics are the two teams I watch the most. We're really splitting hairs here as to which is the worse defender, they're both bad. It's pretty funny how people are making statements like it could be definitive either way.

although as I attested earlier Ridnour has shown better defensive ability in the past, especially in the steals department...

Ok well, before anyone could reply to my thread thief turned it into a player comparison thread, which it wasn't in the 1st place, and edited my title. Who saw that coming.

I think this pretty much sets the stage for a player comparison, so I'm not sure what you were going for.

For what it's worth, I think I'd take Luke over Meer. IMO he's a better floor general and his extra three inches let him at least get a hand higher up in an opposing PG's face.

I think both give you something different on the defensive end. Luke's better at getting in passing lanes and getting a hand in a shooters face. Meer is quicker for sure and his thicker body makes it more difficult back him down.

and didn't Luke average just shy of 2 steals per game not long ago? Jameer the better defender? not so much...

Yeah, but steals can be a selfish stat. A lot of the stats leaders are not good defenders and go for steals instead of playing defense just because they want to get the ball in their hands to score.

Jameer deserves criticism sometimes, but let's not resort to throwing in "facts'' that don't reflect what has been happening. "Especially his turnovers of late''....in the 20 games since the all-star break, Jameer is averaging 1.5 turnovers per game. Yes, he had a bad game against the Knicks. If it wasn't for that and one five-turnover game, that stat would be a lot lower. He actually has eight games in that span with zero turnovers.

And, not to gang up on you Thief, but Jameer's 3pt% is up to 40% (career 36.7%), behind only Rashard and Hedo on our team (who are both at 40.5%). And his overall fg% is 46.3% (career 45.6%), 4th behind Dwight, Evans, and Dooling (those after-buzzer shots paying dividends). So even though it seems like Jameer's offense has been bad this year, he's actually been pretty efficient.

Compared to Ridnour, whose highest fg% ever was 43.3% (career 41.7% shooter), and highest 3pt% ever was 37.6% (career 33.6% 3pt shooter). His numbers are terrible this year, but his minutes have been so erratic, I decided to list his best numbers ever.

And Watson: fg% this year is 44.8% (career 41.8%) and 3pt% is 37.3% (career 34.6%).

I think Luke is better than Watson though. Luke had a really good year a couple years ago and looked like he was gonna be a starting pg for the rest of his career. And now look what's happened to him. I think PJ Carlesimo has done a horrible job managing that team this year. But that's just me.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

not ganging up on me, I didnt mention his 3pt%...overall though, Ridnour is a better shooter, if you were stating that off of my better shooter statement...he just has better form, timing, release etc.

This is a great, now let's pick a crappy PF and have an in depth debate on how he stacks up to Pat Garrity.

If you're counting on Luke or Jameer for D, your team is in trouble.
