Playoffs - Who will we play, & Who do we want?

Post#1 » by your_dallas_mavericks » Mon Apr 7, 2008 9:02 pm

Primary Poll Question:
Who do you think the Mavs will play in the first round?

Bonus Discussion:
Who would you want the Mavs to play in the first round?

Edit: Edit long title.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I think they will play San Antone.

I am hoping they play Houston.

Everybody is hoping they play Houston!

I'm more concerned on 1) getting into the playoffs and 2) playing well when we get there.

Who we play is irrelevant and as far as who I want...doesn't matter one bit.

I think we play San Antonio. Anybody who finishes 1st or 2nd will be tough to beat, so I don't have a real preference. We've gotta beat everybody to win the trophy, so what difference does it make who we face first, really?

For a playoff rotation I would like to see.

At this point it's been such a difficult season that I'm just going to be happy if we make the playoffs. On the other hand it would be the best feeling if we knocked San Antonio out.

I really don't fear anyone. The best teams win, if we're not the best, we won't win it all. Anything less than winning it all is a disappointment.

The only team I really want to avoid is the Lakers... Of course we all want to play the Rockets first, but realistically, it will probably be the Spurs, which I think the Mavs have a pretty good shot at winning also.

Yup, I'd hate to see the Lakers in the first round, I'm comfortable with the Spurs because we've beat them before. Hornets are iffy, Jazz are iffy, Rockets are fine.

I really want to avoid the Lakers. They have some mental block when it comes to them and i also have a bad feeling Mr. Stern wants a Celtics vs. Lakers Finals. The officiating may reflect this. We need someone who can blow them out to knock them out for us.

I really dont fear the Spurs though.

Remember people, it's an even numbered year. The Spurs don't go all the way in even numbered years...

Mavs will play the Lakers or Hornets. I'd love to see them play the Spurs or Jazz though. Jazz have a tough schedule, so probably not.

All I know is if we keep up this intensity on our way out of the regular season, we will be in excellent shape...

This team will have to play way over its head to even have a chance.
Am I the only one that can see we don't have the talent to go all the way?

Our lack of inside scoring and defense (when Damp's out) will absolutely kill us in any 7 game series.

I am impressed with the optimism on this board though.

It's all we have.

BTW, I just figured out who I want to play....

So if Dallas wins, I win!

I want New Orleans in the 1st round, Houston in the 2nd round and Warriors in the WCF.
