Chicago Bulls v. San Antonio Spurs
The franchises with the 3rd and 4th highest numbers of NBA titles. Neither franchise has ever lost a final series! If you put together the all time team for each franchise using the players at their peak (playing for that franchise), who would win a 7 game series?

Artis Gilmore
Bill Cartwright
Elton Brand
Charles Oakley
Horace Grant
Dennis Rodman
Bob Love
Chet Walker
Scottie Pippen
Jerry Sloan
Michael Jordan
Reggie Theus
Ben Gordon
Ron Harper
Norm Van Lier
BJ Armstrong
Kirk Hinrich
etc.
San Antonio Spurs
David Robinson
Sven Nater
Billy Paultz
Tim Duncan
Terry Cummings
Larry Kenon
Sean Elliot
Mike Mitchell
Manu Ginobli
George Gervin
Alvin Robertson
James Silas
Johnny Moore
Tony Parker
etc.

The Bulls beat the Celtics when this was done and barely lost to the Lakers.

To play devil's advocate, here are the lineups
Bulls --
Gilmore/Cartwright
Brand/H.Grant/Oakley (don't need Rodman's antics with this talent)
Pippen/Walker
Jordan/Sloan
Van Lier/Armstrong/Paxson
SA
D.Robinson Paultz
Duncan Cummings
Elliot Mitchell Kenon
Gervin Ginobili Robertson
Silas Parker
Nope, I can't. Too many great defenders on the Chicago side even with the great SA interior players.

Shouldn't Brand be pulled from the Bulls lineups as he wasn't all that in Chicago? He stepped everything up when he went to the Clippers.

All that? 2nd year he went for 20 and 10 with 3 assists, a steal, and 1.6 blocks per game.
On a team that had nothing else but him. Call me less then impressed. When he continued to throw up those numbers with Maggs next to him and Kandi down low was much more impressive.

How is it more impressive that he got the same numbers surrounded by better talent, while putting up a similar number of shots? Wouldn't most players' numbers be expected to improve if they were given the same opportunities as before, but with more talent around them?

hey but when you look at the h2h matches between drob and jordans bulls, the games wasnt that lopsided. With the new additions of players, i dont see how the bulls can stop the spurs low post presence. Even a young drob was already a handful for the bulls to handle.
ps. i watch that youtube clip of bulls v spurs, very nice.
