It isn't so much the turnovers, it's the kind of turnovers, lazy, stupid ones. That should be easy to correct, but who knows.
Turnovers aren't my greatest concern with Monta, it's his total lack of defense that should be more worrisome. Maybe if Baron is moved it might help, but he's got a long way to go before he even gets the fundamentals of D. And it doesn't look like anyone is coaching him.
Yes, there's definitely problems with just about everyone's D (you can even include Biedrens and Jack in that one too). I have to believe it's the system (if you want to call it one) that we play, I really think that it's screwed everyone's D up over the long haul. There were times even last year where guys like Baron were tearing it up defensively. There were times early in the year where Jack looked like he might have had a shot a DPY, at least all league defense. Not any more. So I'm going to hold out on condemning anybody as being defensive "busts" for the time being. I want to see what they do when it becomes more conventional. The problem that you run into in trying to discern a guys defensive abilities when playing the kind of schemes we do (rotating man, zone, etc.) guys get lost in the shuffle and you can't really tell what a guy can do one on one. One on one is when you kind out a guys ability to cover. When things keep changing around like they do, they tend to confuse guys I think and with all the low IQ guys we have I think it just makes matter worse. When you have these switching mechanisms employed, how you can you really tell when somebody gets blown by? It's pretty hard for me. Maybe a guy doesn't switch when he's supposed, maybe he doesn't call out the screen, etc. It's pretty hard unless you're down there on the floor to really know what's going down. Our defense is always changing just as our starting lineup. Hard to figure things out, especially for the players.
