If Your Team Doesn't Meet Expectations In The Playoffs...
If your favorite team gets bounced out in the 1st round, what do you do?
(Anything is possible)
Example: The Lakers are on track to meet the Rockets in the 1st round...what if T-mac becomes Jordan'ish & the Rockets shock the Lakers?
What if Golden State or Denver knocks off New Orleans in the 1st round?
What is Boston gets upset by the Hawks, or lose in the 2nd round to Washington or Cleveland??
. . .or the Pistons by the Raptors or Philly?
Orlando(See previous)
What if Lebron goes home in the 1st round?
Are you upset?

^I would too, Alexander Johnson and/or Earl Barron guarding KG in a 7-game series would be hilarious to watch. Don't even get me started on the Daequan Cook/Ray Allen matchup and the former teammate clash of Ricky Davis and Paul Pierce.
If my Raptors lose in the first round, I'll demand change. Preferably nickels but a good SG/SF would work too.

Seriously, how many legitimate expectations can there be in the West? The first and eighth seeds are sepearated by 9 games.
The only thing that would shock me a little bit in the West is seeing Denver or Golden State knock off the #1 seed. And even that wouldn't shock me too much if it were the Hornets, just for their lack of playoff experience.
I can see the Hornets/Spurs/Suns/Jazz/Rockets/Lakers all going to the Finals from the West. I can all see all those teams getting knocked out of the first round, depending on matchups.
The West is nuts this year. And it sould be the best playoffs I can remember in ages.

Spurs fan here. As already said by a former poster, I don't think there will be any big surprises in the West. I mean it's quite possible that the Spurs will face the Mavs in the first round, so it wouldn't be a major upset if the Spurs (or Mavs) lost.
Would I be upset ? Of course, every fan would be, but live goes on ...
Should Pop be fired ? No way
Make drastic moves in the off-season ? The Spurs will likely make some moves, but nothing drastic (Splitter coming over and Mahinmi in lineup). Horry (and maybe Finley) retiring.
Start-Over(Rebuild) : as long as Timmy's playing up to his potential there will be no start-over.
In the East I can see some upsets. I really hope the Magic can eliminate the Celtics at some point (... and then lose to the Spurs in the finals

as a Knicks fan, I think if the Spurs lose in the first round they should trade RC Buford to the Knicks for Isiah Thomas and Walsh.
But seriously, the only team that should want major changes if they lose in the first round would be the following.
Boston- Doc Rivers fired
Detroit- Flip fired
Cleveland- Mike Brown fired
Orlando- get a real pg, not Nelson so you don't need to rely on Hedo to run your offense.
Phoenix- beat up Steve Kerr
New Orleans- trade Bonzie Wells and call him a cancer(it seems to be the new fad for teams)

Spurs
Relating to the off-season, regardless of the playoffs, they'll retool with getting younger and more athletic on the wings (draft and/or FA), bring in Splitter, bring in a big man that has experience that can defend to replace Horry or Thomas.
I say anyway the playoffs go, because the questions and probabilities, aren't going to change with:
- Kurt Thomas (FA; brought back?/retiring)
- Horry (FA; probably/is retiring)
- Finley (FA; possibly retirng, won't be brought back, or slides down to 3rd string)
- Barry (1-year left; similar situation as Finley)

I think it depends how you lose.
If you lose because you couldnt make the adjustments necessary to hang with the other team then you might need to reevaluate the coach.
If you lose because you are drastically outmatched in a key matchup then you look at reevaluating your personnel
If you lose because its close, or on a fluke play or because of homecourt advantage then you dont do anything and just rely on the draft and midlevel to get you a little extra depth or talent where it is needed

fanbase reactions to teams disappointing in the playoffs:
celtics: doc rivers. give us a real coach and we sweep 16-0
lakers: bynum needed more time to gel with gasol
spurs: well, we never repeat or win in even numbered years
suns: stern and the referee illuminati screwed us again
mavs: never should have traded for kidd, harris and diop were crucial pieces

1) Fire Flip Saunders on the spot
2) Look into dealing either Billups or Rasheed, that fatcat attitude originates from these guys. A first round knock-out makes the whole season useless, and you have to ask yourselves... why keep these guys if they cant get you out of the 1st round?
3) Trade for a real banger. No more softie big men.
Not sure what else you can do.
