Man, if this guy is such a stud eating while gummy bears and Frosted Flakes all day, can you imagine if someone introduced him to protein? :o

I was waiting for Rose to take over in the last few minutes of regulation and then again in overtime and nothing. Somehow the ball kept going to Douglas-Roberts. Rose's performance reminded me a bit of Dirk Nowitzki's choking acts when it counts the most.

The guy is still a great player but at the end Memphis FT shooting issues from all season killed them and he should've taken over the game by attacking the basket and creating for others instead we have Douglas-Roberts going 1-on-1. They completely gave this game away IMO.

Memphis also missed Dorsey on those last minutes. There was no toughness or defense without him guarding the basket. Kansas perimeter guys were driving and pushing with little to none resistance from the Tigers.

How about Chalmers 3 to go into OT? Priceless...

^The defenses they were throwing at Rose as the game went on got to Rose, but those same types of defenses in the NBA would be 3 second calls/illegal defense.

We don't need him to be as clutch as Wade...he can be a good #2 or #3 option for us.

Really hope Blake Griffin declares. He's my latter replacment "freakish athletic big with tremodous upside if he end up with the 4th pick" for DeAndre Jordan. Unlike Jordan, Griffin actually produced in the big 12.

I am not saying that I wouldn't draft Rose because of THIS performance but just like we praised him for being dominant on every game and even before the last 3 minutes of last night's game, he deserves to be criticized for shrinking when it counted the most.

If you're drafting in the top 2, you want him to be a superstar, 1st option type of player.

Let's say we draft Rose. In the last 5 minutes of the game, when most NBA games are decided, who's number do you call for each of these plays?

- Isolation

- Pick-and-Roll (2 players, 1 big 1 small)

- Post Up

Now let's say we draft Beasley. Who's number do we call for each play?

- Isolation

- Pick-and-Roll (2 players: 1 big, 1 small)

- Post Up

Which scenario is better than the other?

Let Wade and Rose create for others or themselves.

Simple.

So we cut the ball in half?

You've gotta give it to one guy or the other obviously...

Considering we can't do that or play with 2 balls. :-?

But, we can put the ball in Rose's hands and let him create for Wade or another player on the team, with the defense focused on Wade & Rose; it's bound to leave someone open somewhere.

Who knows, maybe this season Wade comes into the season with an improved off-ball game.

So you'd rather have Rose running an iso down the stretch than Wade?

Hmmm, I'd probably prefer the ball in Wade's hands. When healthy, he's pretty much the greatest clutch player in the world ... I can't see calling his favorite plays for a rookie while he stands idly by.

It's going to depend though on the type of player Rose is/becomes if he is even on our team.

But, right now, I'd rather have the ball in Wade's hands, bar none.

what is wrong with having two players that can run the team at crunch time??

The beauty of having both Wade and Rose at the top of the key to setup a 1-on-1. Pick your poison (although I would worry more about Wade than Rose at this point.

As for the Pick-and-Roll, we have two excellent "big" players with different styles to run such a play: Marion and Haslem. Whether you run it with Wade or Rose and use a quick slashing Marion or a opportunistic mid-range shooting Haslem, having both elite guards only makes this play that much more dangerous.

Now as far as Post up, we might have problems here without a dominant post player however, I do like Rose's size and strenght over most PG in this league. We need some post up players IMO. Wayne Simien (prior to his chicken salad eating days) was a good post up player; too bad it didn't work out. Other than that, including Wade, we are weak there.

*I am not considering ZO because of his pending retirement decision

I think if we had a real PG, Wade WOULD post up more, he is/was a good postup player

Wade is 6'4 perfect size to post up pg but not sg since most sg are 6'6+.

Just because Rose had Dirk style mental collapse in crunch time shouldn't hurt him much in the draft. If anything it should make him a better player.

Izzy just made a good point worth mentioning; let's say Beasley is Melo (V2), at best. -- Take a look at the situation out in Denver, and when AI/Melo are on the floor together they both need the ball in their hands to be effective; AI-Wade/Melo-Beasley. Melo doesn't do much other than score the ball. Given that, would a Wade/Beasley combo work or would it be a AI/Melo scenario?

Now Rose, he can bring the ball up court, effectively run your team, get your team in its offensive sets, and give you 2 solid penetrators (Wade and Rose) to the hoop, and after all the rule changes, this has become a G's game.
