Just wondering: Boozer for Bynum?

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Tue Apr 8, 2008 7:33 pm

I know fans hate when folks come in asking, would you trade X for Y?

But, I thought this was kinda interesting for both squads.

But, I thought I'd see if you guys thought this was interesting, or a rip off, or a great deal. Or maybe you just hate Boozer.

Whatever.

Just looking for your opinions.

No thanks... for 3 reasons

1) Bynum is a Center

2) Bynum is younger

3) Bynum plays defense; As great as a Boozer/Gasol frontcourt would be offensively, they'd be almost equally bad defensively

I'd pass. Boozer is a good player and all. But what we need from our center, boozer or pau can't provide in shot blocking and a big body for defense. We already have a good scoring pf in pau, and a blue collared work horse in Lamar. Pau would get eaten up if he played center the whole year. It'd be foolish to give bynum away right now anyways. We invested so much time for him to grow and develop, and now that's he's finally blossoming. I wouldn't trade him for anyone.

Although just to admit. I probably would of done it before this season started. I would of packaged him and lamar or him and kwame for anyone that was an all star so we could keep Kobe. Thank God we don't have that problem anymore. This by far has been the craziest season ever. I've been a laker fan for over 20 years now, and I don't remember a crazier season than this. I guess you can throw in when Magic came back all fat. Then he coached. But this I'd still put this season higher just because we went from coming to terms that we were going to lose kobe for Chicago trash in ben gordon, tyrus thomas, and ben wallace. (To think, those stupid chicago fans and management didn't want to give up Deng and Gordon. Look where that got them.) To acquiring pau for trash and now making a run at the title. Losses aren't as devastating anymore knowing that we have a legit contender for years to come.

If we didn't have Gasol I would think about it but still probably choice Bynum
Bynum is a Center and he also has soooo much potential. He could be the best center in the league in a couple years. Boozer is a good pf but there are alot more allstar pf's then Centers and the proof is we have an allstar pf.
The Center position is not so important just because of the offense but because of the D and size they give us.

You know I probably would have done this deal prior to this season. But I have to pass right now simply because Andrew Byum is our future center and unless D12 is coming in return we cannot mortgage our franchise center.

Now if you want to do a Odom for Boozer swap maybe we can discuss, but that would create a glut at PF for us and I doubt Utah is interested. Maybe a AK47 for Odom swap but that would be going off topic on my part.

i would trade Bynum for exactly 1 player. "

"Superman" D.Howard

and 1 reason why..

almost 4 seasons straight with 0 missed games... that is a true "Superman" to me. Not the Bizarro in the PHX.

But besides him Bynums my boy.
Greatest comment I've ever received.

Thanks for the responses. About what I figured, although someone mentioned you wouldn't have shot blocking, and Gasol is a fine shot blocker.

Good luck in the playoffs. Beat the Spurs will ya.

Thanks! Hey if you guys stay at 4th seed and the Spurs wind up the #1 seed, you might get first crack at them in the 2nd round. With any luck maybe we meet in the WCF??

Your road to the WCF may go through Phx or Houston in the first round. New Orleans or Spurs in the 2nd round, possibly us depending on who gets 1st seed and if there isn't any upset.

I'm hoping for Houston, then New Orleans, then anyone but the Spurs.

Basically, anyone but the spurs, although the Lakers would be my 2nd least favorite opponent.

How about adding Luke for Deron to complete the deal? If we're going to have two starting PFs, we'll need a good PG to sort it all out.

We'll fight for the first seed I'd rather meet the Jazz in the second round. We can beat you guys in 5 games( I'lll give you one just to be nice). We'll beat the Spurs after we take you down, now being mean just being honest.

Laker in five.
