I was just looking over the mock drafts from years past, and it's really interesting to notice the comparisons, but even more interesting to notice how much the players have worked on their "weaknesses"..

anybody notice any that stand out a lot?..

Yeah, I visit that site. Their mock draft is OK, sometimes it's off on the bottom picks. The comparison thing is somewhat good, it's not really that great of a site though IMO. I'd rather use ESPN or Yahoo for scouting for the draft.

Apparently Ronnie Brewer has never dribbled a basketball, nor passed one in his life.

draftexpress is a far better site.

1.8 APG and 0.93 TO with starter role ain't too bad... very flawed scout.

That 0 and 0 on Brewer is a misprint, they very clearly say that he could run some point.

I like their scouting reports, but the player comparisons are horrible, and go mostly on appearance.

This web site was the bomb before draftcity came out.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

I like draftexpress.com, I checked it out for the first time. Besides, Yahoo and ESPN's mock draft, they have a great mock draft better than any other site. They show complete strengths and weaknesses that are actually true, and they have two NBA comparisons:Worst Case Scenario or Best Case Scenario.

Draftnet has definitely toned down the ridiculous comparisons in recent years...there was a time when half the players in the first round were compared to all-stars (heck, Omar Cook = Jason Kidd, Maciej Lampe = Dirk Nowitzki, Qyntel Woods = Tracy McGrady, Frank Williams = Terry Porter...)

The mock drafts are no less awful than ever, though.

Draft.net is probably my favorite predraft site, Draftexpress has a lot more in detailed info but their mock isn't as accurate.

In fact, i don't know any other major publication's mocks being more accurate year to year, most are wildly off.

Compare nbadraft.net's 2004 mock:
http://www.nbadraft.net/index.asp?content=mock2004

to SI's:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/b ... index.html
- Okafor going #1, Dwight going #2
- Gordon going #8 to Toronto, Chicago drafts Iguodala #3 (virtually reversed)
- JR Smith in the top 10?
- Kevin Martin isn't even drafted 1st round

One thing to keep in mind is that this early nobody's mocks are remotely close. This will change radically by summertime. The combine has huge impact, and reports from the personal workouts are more important than any other pieces of information. It doesn't matter who you think ATL should draft, if their GM tells the papers "I'm drafting a big defender and then a PG next," you can pencil in your mocks ATL is drafting Horford & Acie Law.

Everyone is a little off, that's natural...but Draftnet had Lampe and Podkolzine in the lottery the day of the draft (two guys that they one had in the top-3), Bynum near the bottom of the first round, and many others. They tend to become fixated on certain prospects to a degree rivaled only by Chad Ford.

 @ eddy currys potential on nbadraft.net

and Chandlers weakness.

Weaknesses: Strength, maturity. Will never have the strength of a Shaq or Eddy Curry.

they sure did love curry

DX is a much better source, and their analysis in terms of strengths and weaknesses are more closer looking back on.

Some of draftnet's comparisons

Amare Stoudemire------Ben Wallace
Nene----------------------Hakeem Olajuwon
Deshawn Stevenson----Michael Jordan
Adam Morrison----------Larry Bird
Mike Dunleavy----------Larry Bird
Nickoloz Tskitishvili----Pau Gasol
Kwame Brown---------Kevin Garnett
