Bobcats' board consensus picks - No.1

Post#1 » by doc.end » Wed Apr 9, 2008 7:11 pm

Last year Augustus came up with a great idea of a poll among us, Bobcats' fans of this board, to simulate the draft by picking a player for No. 1, then No.2 etc.

Since there's is no sighting of Augustus lately , Final Four is over and we are already discussing what to do in tis year draft, I've benn eager enough to star this thread. One pick a day none on sundays or sturdays, be free to start threads for further picks as long as I didn't do it till around noon (I'm about six hours ahead of you guys from east coast - so I would probably won't do it on current day). I would gladly give it up to you Augustus, if you are interested to do it again.

Let's see who we wanted to be picked by our front office, if we get No.1.

Consider it as no trade happen and we would keep the player (or his draft rights)

Consider it as we are going to keep the pick . no trade down, trade up suggestions

Might be easier to do once we officially know who is in and who is out of the draft.

Which is when exactly? (date)

I remember last year we have Hibbert at eight spot or so, so I think this is not a big deal as long as we include anyone not publically returning in options (well, I should add a write-in option but for No.1 it doesn't matter, I won't forget next time).

Just imagine "NAME, if he declares and stays"

I know it is too early but what should poor Bobcats' fan do to not give up until November.

Looks like CNN projects that this poll is won by Beasley, even though I think Rose is better suited for this team.

I'd go with Rose and not hesitate for a second. I have a bad feeling Beasley will end up as this generation's Shareef Abdur-Raheem, a 20/10 guy who puts up meaningless stats because the numbers don't ever helps his squad win basketball games. No doubt he's a load in the paint and has great offensive skills but I don't believe he has what it takes to lead a team to victories consistently.

Rose on the other hand is the exact opposite. His stats can be pedestrian at times but he always seems to get the job done. What I most like about his game is the way he seems to elevate himself when going against stiffer competition. He knows when to take over the game and he does it. The game Memphis lost to UT featured Rose scoring a flurry at the very end, he killed Augustin, he killed Collison, he probably had his most complete game of the season against Kansas, the kid seems to thrive on the big stage. If Chris Douglas-Roberts hadn't gone 1-4 on his last few FTs he'd be the best player on a national championship team as a frosh, what's not to like?

Rose seems to have "it" that intangible quality that some players possess that gets them over the hump from "talented" to "great". I don't believe Beasley has "it", I think he'll end up being a mercenary-type that gets his numbers with little impact on the W/L column. Obviously if we selected Rose that would further complicate Ray's future but when you can get this sort of a talent in my opinion you do it no matter what. Any team that passes on Rose, unless they have an all-star PG, is making a huge mistake imo.

Tough one!
I have to go with Beasley.
I like him togeter with E50.
Even Rose will almost sure develope into a Superstar i feel that we are OK with Felton at the PG Spot.

I think Beasley at the 4 makes everyone better...and he does not have to be the leader...just give me 20/10....and that will free Mek for easy baskets...

I voted for Beasley. He can come in right away with the ability to score in the front court and rebound. No doubt in my mind that Rose is someone we could really, really use... but if we could choose either, Beasley compliments everyone.

Not to mention we can't rebound for crap so it'd be nice to have someone you know can board.

Certainly it's a win-win situation for us. My preference is also for Beasley... he's a stud, and will produce his rookie year in the NBA.

Ok, it looks like it is over. I agree that Rose will be a better player but the lack of rebounding is hurting us more than anything else (except Sam Vincent).
