Draft Question regarding Roy Hibbert

Post#1 » by VIPER8382 » Wed Apr 9, 2008 8:51 pm

I have started to see Roy Hibbert fall to the 17-22 range in mocks. If he really falls into the upper teens do you see a chance of us trading for a pick to grab him? I would be really excited to have him work under Kareem much like Bynum has. I could really see him develop into a top notch backup center by his 2nd season. If he develops really well he could become a starter type that we could use as the centerpiece prospect in a trade for a superstar in 3 years or so (Quality young centers always have strong trade value). Does anybody else see this as a possibility?

I don't think he projects well in the NBA. He very slow, and doesn't possess many skills. He does well enough in college, but I don't think he'll be much more than a body in the NBA.

Related query, anyone has an idea if Tyler Hansbrough is declaring for the draft this year?

Hansbrough has been tight-lipped, but the speculation is that he'll be returning to North Carolina next year.

He would only play 10-15 minutes with Bynum about to be a superstar center who will play many many minutes.
I think they go after a wing either a pg/sg/sf unless a steal comes along.

I could see Westbrook coming on board before Hibbert. Somebody will snatch Hibbert up and I could see us making a play for Russell espially with the whole UCLA thing. Besides if a big man is gonna slip I am hoping for it to be Kevin Love.

hansbourgh is the second coming of mark madsen...well, ill give a little more credit he's a more athletic mark madsen.
westbrooke would be perfect, i'd hope mitch makes a deal to grab this guy
even with my fingers crossed i see westbrooke taken as a lottery pick if he declares for the draft

Yeah. I hope everyone realizes we don't have a first round pick this year. We do have a second round pick for the Jumaine Jones trade. And even if Kevin Love is available I don't think we pick him up. He's a bigger luke walton IMO.

Well, he did say trade for a pick to grab him.

IMO, we have all the youth we need at this point. We are no longer in major rebuilding mode, and all the youth we have is contributing nicely to the team.

If anything, we need more veterans who can get the job done, not rookies with question marks on their forehead.

Shows how many people paid attention to the biggest trade we had in a while huh ?

With that said we won't be getting anything of value in this years draft.
You rarely find players that can help your team in the 2nd Round.

I think the person and I know I said trade for a pick but Kevin Love and Luke Walton would be redintant. Kind of like Ellis and Iverson in the backcourt or Camby and Chandler.
Either way Bynum and Gasol will be getting all the minutes at C and PF next year.
Like I said a pg or a backup 2/3 is the only thing I see us going after and it probably wouldn't be threw the draft but probably a vet to play 15 minutes just like Mitch said so no Russell.
We are not trading for a pick so I think the only draft fun we will have is trying to predict the order and make the right mock. Speaking of is Beasley really not coming out? If so that is so dumb. If your a guaranteed lotto you go out and if your a guaranteed top 3 pick you surely go because you never know. Also there are some really deserible teams in the lotto this year.
